VOTD: Megaman ‘Game’ in Stop Motion Animation

Nicolas created what could be the best Megaman of all-time using stop motion animation. Watch Megaman avoid real world objects such as a paper cutter and balancing himself on old Game Boy cartridges. And make sure you check out one of the many epic boss battles as he fights a human hand holding a fork…

Obviously this isn’t a game, but its easily just as creative and deserves recognition. This must have taken some time to film.

VOTD: Louis Armstrong Sings “Super Mario World”

See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor.

The Pitch: Legendary musician Louis Armstrong sings “Super Mario World.” Okay, he’s been dead for almost 30 years but Brentalfloss created this parody that sounds likes the famous song “What a Wonderful World.” Funny stuff.

VOTD: Obama Girl has a Crush on Ackerman from Red Alert 3

If you at all know anything about the upcoming election, than you should be familiar about the internet-famous Obama Girl, (Amber Lee Ettinger). EA’s has been doing a fantastic job creating viral videos. First the TIger Woods Shot, Katy Perry Sims 3 video and now this. EA has really stepped up to the plate as of late.

VOTD: Pac-Man Being Chased By the Ghosts Through the Streets of New York City

The Pitch: Aspiring film director Doug Schachtel made a music video while playing the song ‘Junior Kickstart‘ by the musical group The Go! Team. The video is set in New York and his cast dressed up as Pac-Man and the ghosts from the game. While filming, he had Pac-Man being chased by the ghosts through the streets of New York City. All being shot like the show ‘Jackass.’

VOTD: Mirror’s Edge Remade in LittleBigPlanet

Two of the biggest games of the year have collided thanks to LittleBigPlanet. EA’s Mirror’s Edge has been ‘remade’ in the LittleBigPlanet level editor and its pretty damn creative.

Although the video is shaky and grainy, you certainly get a good idea of the level. And the one thing that sticks out from the level are the colors. The creator of the world even had the color red guide the player while going through the level, just like what Mirror’s Edge does — pretty awesome stuff. After the jump, check out more videos relating to Mirror’s Edge and LBP. (more…)

VOTD: Gamer Proposes to His Girlfriend Using the LittleBigPlanet Editor

Gamers being romantic? I know it’s hard to believe, and even harder knowing someone has a girlfriend while plays games at the same time. But Jed05 does and he decided to ask his very own girlfriend to marry him. Of course being the hardcore gamer he is, he didn’t copy the generic — ‘getting on one knee and proposing to her’ — instead used the LittleBigPlanet level editor. He wrote about why he did it.

“I’ve been wanting to do something creative to ask her to marry me, and what a better way then Little Big Planet! I know the last part of the level may not be that exciting, but I have a fiancee now!”

On behalf of /gamer and the gaming community, we wish you two the best of luck. And yes, we’re hopeless romantics…

Now make sure your wedding cake is just as cool…

On a side note, if you would like to play his game, you can find the level in the LittleBigPlanet Beta. Just look for the level called ‘Love and Marriage,’ under the user name DimmuJed.

VOTD: Mega 64 — Dead Rising in Real Life

The Pitch: The Mega 64 guys spoof the game Dead Rising. Member of the site, Rocco Botte plays news reporter Frank West from the zombie game and tries to help people in a mall get to their destination, while promising a helicopter is on its way in 72 hours. He’s doing this all while covering the story about the zombie infestation. Obviously some people don’t believe him.

Oh, and I hate Otis too!

VOTD: Guitar Hero on the Atari 2600

The Pitch: Tamagotchikid on youtube made this perfect demake of how Guitar Hero would have been like if it was first made on the Atari 2600. I’m not going to lie, if this game was available then, I would have bought it on the first day. Unfortunately, because Harmonix wasn’t around, I was stuck with E.T.

Can anyone tell me what song is in the video…I’ve had it stuck in my head for hours!

VOTD: Wario Ware Inc: Doc Brown’s Microgames

The Pitch: returnofLEE on youtube created this ingenious video that resembles the crazy mini game, Wario Ware Inc. Instead of having the anti-Mario starring in the game, it is Back to the Future’s Doc Brown. How awesome of a game would this be? ;)

VOTD: There Will Be Brawl

BRAWL - Episode 1 : Twilight Ruin from There Will Be BRAWL on Vimeo.

Director Matthew Mercer and writer Zach Grafton have both come up with an alternative view of what the Mushroom Kingdom really is like. And its not blue skies with with a few smiling clouds looking down onto the world. It is dark, gritty, and has a very depressing atmosphere. The official website for the web series describes what it’s about.

“In a Dystopian Mushroom Kingdom, corruption and avarice reign supreme. Even the greatest heroes of the land have buckled beneath the overwhelming will of the amoral elite. When a series of grisly crimes pushes an unlikely champion to seek the truth, a mystery unfolds that could completely destroy everything he holds dear.”

Although it’s not perfect, the creators of the show defiantly have talent. They’ve successfully made the looniness that is Mushroom Kingdom and transcended it to a city that feels like a real American metropolitan area.

Oddly enough, the best thing I loved about the first episode was the soundtrack. They remade some of the Nintendo themes we know and love, but gave an edger and somber mood. It worked perfect for the film.

Love it or hate it, it’s 100 times better than the Super Mario Bors. Movie that came out in the 90’s.

VOTD: Cal Bears Video Game Half Time Show

The Pitch: The University of California Marching Band in Berkeley, decided to have something less ‘jockish’ during their halftime show last year against Washington State. The marching band did almost 7 minutes worth of video game music. Get this, not only did they play the songs, they marched into scenes from the games.

List of songs:

Tetris
Mortal Kombat
Pokemon
Legend of Zelda
Super Mario
Super Mario (underground)
Super Mario World
Super Mario (underwater)
Super Matio (ending)

VOTD: Mario on ‘To Catch a Predator’

Dateline: Mario from Eric Grissom

The Pitch: Mario walks into a house while a kid says he’ll be out in a second. Before we know it, Chris Hansen’s ‘brother’ Ted Hansen comes out with Dateline NBC. We think Mario was just there to teach the kid how dangerous the internet can be.
