Dr. Pepper Signs Pro Gamer
Further proof that video games have come along way since the days of the NES and SNES. Tom Taylor isn’t your average gamer, you see — he’s one of those ridiculously good pro-gamers. The guy is so good, he just signed a $250,000 contract to put his mug on 175 million 20-ounce Dr. Pepper bottles.
The soda company is trying to attract young gamers by putting a face that they can relate too. Instead of a famous athlete that is living a completely different lifestyle than their own. Terry Hockens of Dr. Pepper explains:
“We think there’s an opportunity to bring more people into the Dr Pepper franchise.”
However, even before this announcement, Taylor talked about how he’s already being recognized while hanging out in town:
“It’s not like I’m Tom Cruise or Usher walking down the street or anything like that, but it’s gotten to the point where you have to look your best when you go out,” Mr. Taylor said. “I carry a Sharpie around, like Peyton Manning.”
The question is, will non-gamers even care about this kid, and will his going out become even more of a hassle? Our guess; no — considering we think Dr. Pepper taste like year old piss.
