Just a quick note about the release date for The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. Microsoft, along with LucasArts have both revealed that the remake of the original Monkey Island will appear on Xbox Live Arcade starting July 15th and will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10.00). On the same day, the PC version will also be released on Steam and cost $10.00.
For me anyway, this is one I can’t wait for. I consider the Monkey Island series to be one of the best in the videogame industry, and seeing the special edition include; a re-record score, updated graphics and now voice work is a welcoming change. If you are a purest and don’t want to play the game with all the snazzy updated features, don’t worry; you can play the original with the flick of a button.

Telltale Games is set to release a series of new installments of the classic game Monkey Island. So far, Tales of Monkey Island had only been announced as a download for the Nintendo Wiiware and PC. Though, according to game design director Dave Grossman, who wrote some of the originals for LucasArts, didn’t rule out a Xbox Live Arcade version as well.
“We didn’t so much decide not to put it on Xbox Live Arcade as we decided not to put it on XBLA now,” said Grossman while speaking to Eurogamer. “Normally what we do is PC and one of the other platforms, and we’ve been bouncing back and forth between them,” he said. When asked if we would see it on XBLA he said, “Yeah, I mean I wouldn’t rule it out. We might do that one later on.”
It was announced during E3 that the original title The Secret of Monkey Island, would be coming out as special edition to XBLA this summer. It would include updated graphics, HD support and re-recordings of the original score, among other features.
