As you probably know, the five year-old Saw movie is finally getting a video game adaption. The game was originally going to be published by the now obsolete company, Brash Entertainment. Since that time, the survival-horror has been picked up by Konami, who have already dabbed their hands into the genre with the Silent Hill franchise.
Up top is a video showcasing, for the first time, actual gameplay. Not only that, we finally get some details about the gaming version of the horror series.
We already know the story for the Saw game will be told between the first two movies, and will reveal unanswered questions from the films. However, the producer of the title John Williamson, has talked a little more about his new game. He said, “It’s [the game] one-third exploration, cause it’s a survival-horror genre, one-third mini-games and puzzles because it’s in Jigsaws world and it will be one-third combat with the other people that are trapped in this world.”
The game also looks like light will play a major role in gameplay. For instance, Mr. Williamson talked about how the main character will have the ability to use different light sources. For instance, maybe the player finds a torch, which will light the room around him. However, if you run the fire would distinguish. The same player could choose to use a flashlight, if he runs it’ll work just fine, but it’ll only light up a small portion of the room/halls.
Overall, the game is looking far better than I originally thought it would’ve. Not because I dislike the Saw franchise, which I don’t. I didn’t think much of it because I pre-judged, and it’s just causes the game is based off a movie… Which is 5 years old, now.

A few months ago, we posted some sad news about Brash Entertainment closing its doors for good. One of their bigger games to be released later this year was the video game adaption of the Saw films. Because of the closer, the first game based off the popular horror franchise was in limbo.
According to a Varitey source, Konami has inked a deal with Lionsgate Entertainment to pick up where Brash left off. Developer Zombie Studios (America’s Army) who were originally working on the title, will continue to do so. The same source expects the game to be sold around the same time as the sixth installment of the Saw films.
In the same report, it was noted that Tobin Bell who played the infamous Jigsaw killer is going to lend his voice and reprise his role. They are also promising the game is going to get a much deserving ‘Mature‘ rating.
Although it has yet to be confirmed by Konami or Lionsgate, the platforms of choice for Saw: The Video Game will be the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Meaning, if people thought the Wiimote would have been perfect to torture a virtual person (it would have), they’ll be disappointed.

For the people who said the video game industry wasn’t going to be affected because of the recent economic recession, you may want to think again. The young video game studio Brash Entertainment (Saw, Tale of Despereaux) looks to be closing their doors for good and as early as tomorrow, according to Variety.
Not to long ago, co-founder of the Brash Thomas Tull, decided to leave the team after a few blunders and idea’s came from the company. Because of his departure and the company wasting money, investors who gave the company about $400 million dollars to start up the studio, have pulled out. Meaning, Brash Entertainment does not have money to continue operations.
However, besides seeing another video game studio ‘bit the dust,’ we wonder what’s going to happen to some of their games. While most of them are based off of movie adaptions, we’re curious what will happen to some of them and how far along were their games in development. Depending on how far the teams were — the movie studios might keep them. Although, our guess — most will just shut down.

Today I’m officially a SAW expert, If you’re wondering why today was the day I choose to receive such a high accolade, it’s because I watched all 5 films in a row. In fact, as I start to type this post, I’m inside the theater — talk about dedication!
Coincidentally, as I’m searching for gaming news to bring to you the readers — Brash Entertainment wanted to remind everyone that they are still planning to come out with the SAW video game they promised back in January.
The gaming company expects the SAW game to come out next year around October, the same time SAW VI is released in theaters. The game’s story-line will take place between the original SAW and the second installment of the films. The developers want the game to be so closely tied to the movie, they are working with the people who came up with the concept of the films that spawned numerous sequels.
SAW will built using the Unreal 3 Engine and will be sold for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

A few months back, it was reported that a Saw video game was in the works. Bloody-Disgusting.com has the teaser poster for the Xbox 360 game. The game is being developed by Brash Entertainment who also made a completely different type of game-Alvin and the Chipmunks.
I’m not sure how the game is going to be or what type of genre it will fall under, but I do like the poster and how it’s using the same type of marketing as it’s movie counterparts. Click on the image to see the high-res version.
