Cool Stuff: Play Games On Your Wall Using A Laser Pointer

Laser pointers were one of the coolest things to come out in the 90s (ok I’m exaggerating). That was until everyone owned one because it was sold for some reason at every tourist/gift shop and they came packed in with different designs — like a skull. I remember watching live events on TV and you would see those little red buggers on faces of celebrities. Although it was funny at first, in the end it became annoying.

LaserGames just brought back the ‘coolness’ of laser pointers. They now have a program that lets you interact with a application though a computer hooked up to a regular projector. Alpay Kasal wrote some information on his blog, “LaserGames is a means of controlling games and applications on any scale using a laser pointer. I’m sure you’ve seen laser controlled bits of coolness in one form or another but I’d like to think I just raised the bar a bit – mouse emulation means you can play whatever you want to throw at it.” and added, “In this clip you see a 2000 lumens projector, and the laser pointer is of the typical 5mw red diode keychain variety. When I have some time, I’m going to get set up outdoors and let people on the street have some fun with it.”

Alpay, when you get this hooked up outside, make sure you call me. Because that pong game looks sick. Check it out above.

Cool Stuff: Pong Watch – ‘Coolest’ Watch EVER

Screw Movado and forget about Rolex, John Maushammer has created the greatest watch in the history of the world. As you can tell from the picture above, the watch has the interface of the classic game, ‘Pong.’

No you can’t play it, but that’s what we kinda like about. Instead of playing the game, the ball moves and scores depending on the time. When every minute goes by, the left side will score a point. And when the hour passes, the right side gets a point. The ‘gameplay’ is the time.

After the jump, watch the video of the watch in action and how it was made.
