In the latest issue of Edge magazine, there was a teaser advertisement for the following month. The picture above is that ad. As you can tell, the tease is just showing a patch of grass with the words “Next month.” What could it be, and which games have to do with a lawn.
Some have been assuming it’s a teaser for the third installment of Pikmin, and I would have to agree. Apparently, if you look at the actual issue and not a scan, you can see what looks to be a purple Pikmin on the top-right-hand corner. Someone decided to scan just that, which we have below. Judging by it, I can definitely see the resemblance.

With next month bringing E3 and Miyamoto confirming on several occasions that Pikmin 3 is being developed for the Wii — it’s a pretty safe bet that this ad is for that game.

In case you were wondering if the Pikmin that Miyamoto talked about last July is the remake of the first one for the Wii, don’t worry — Nintendo’s VP of sales Cammie Dunaway confirmed a new Pikmin is on the way in a Interview with IGN:
“It’s not the Pikmin that Mr. Miyamoto referred to, no. Mr. Miyamoto referred to a new Pikmin, as opposed to the classics that are being rereleased on Wii.”
When the news came out yesterday that Nintendo plans on releasing the first Pikmin on the Wii, we had already figured the third installment was still on its way. But it’s reassuring to know we were right. Because if we weren’t, we would have called upon a boycott.

A Latin American gaming magazine interviewed Miyamoto and Reggie from Nintendo. Even though the article didn’t go into much detail, they did discuss information about the next Zelda and Pikmin games for the Wii.
Miyamoto first talked about the next installment of the ‘Legend of Zelda.’ The godfather of games, promised that this time around it’ll be something unique because it was built from the ground up using the Wii in mind — unlike Twilight Princess. We’re assuming since it wasn’t originally intended for the Gamecube, it’ll take advantage of the Wiimote, and we assume MotionPlus too.
Miyamoto also talked about ‘Pikmin 3‘ for the Wii, and reconfirmed that it is in fact still making it’s way to Nintendo’s console. As of now and where the game is in terms of development, he’s happy with the build and seems excited about using the Wiimote for it. Considering the game moves like a RTS, we couldn’t imagine it playing worse than the Gamecube version. It should feel more natural this time around.
Because of the excitement surrounding the 2D game ‘Wario Land: Shake it,’ he was asked if by chance we would see the possibility of Mario or Metriod make a similar return in that fashion. Although Mr.M didn’t confirm anything, he did say couldn’t comment on that. We pray to the gods that, that answer means “yes.”
Reggie would go on in the interview that Nintendo never even discussed or even hint that a hard-drive would be a option for Wii owners. We pray to the gods again, that he really is lying…

Here we go again. First Miyamoto said yesterday, that there is a Zelda game in the works. Today, at a round-table with CVG, Miyamoto said the following:
“We’re making Pikmin.”
I kid you not, that’s all he said…
I’m starting to wonder if Mr. Miyamoto was a little disappointed, that Nintendo didn’t announce any of his “hardcore” games at this year’s E3. It’s a suggestion, but I doubt that’s what he was doing. What I believe Nintendo was trying to do, was heal some of wounds that they created at E3, from all the negative press they receive
I wonder if the Big N, realizes how big of a mistake they made, by not appeasing any of the loyal Nintendo fans.
