In my opinion, there is no question that EA’s Mirror’s Edge theme song, “Still Alive” could be one of the best original song in video game history. I know it’s not going to sound very ‘manish,’ but I have actually put the tune in my iPod…and listened to it several times.
The song, which is sung by Swedish pop-star Lisa Miskovsky, now has its own music video. The clip features the singer showing off her talent on a roof of a building and obviously it’s inspired by the game.
Check it out up top.

Here’s a quick mention for a game being developed by Brad Borne from Borne Games. He and EA are teaming up to create a full fledge Mirror’s Edge game but in 2D using flash.
Click here to get your chance to play the beta right now, and trust us — it’s awesome. The game certainly nailed down the look, speed and feel of its big brother version which is on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The biggest thing we were impressed with was Faith’s animations — they’re incredible. I just hope EA is smart and decide to port it over to the PlayStation Network and/or Xbox Live Arcade for a download. Heck, they should make it free to promote the original game!

One the same day Mirror’s Edge was released in stores, DIce and EA have confirmed they will include downloadable content sometime in January. EA confirmed that the studio is well underway working on the new DLC, but at this point they haven’t revealed in what capacity it will be.
Is it going to be nothing more than a new costumes and tattoos? Or will we see full fledge levels that were not shown in the stand alone version? Hopefully, Dice decided to take the ladder and not follow the developers of Dead Space. Because as I love the idea of having the ability to download new features in a game — although, I feel ripped off if it’s just a shirt…

As EA is set to launch Mirror’s Edge tomorrow, they have released the launch trailer for the game. As many of you probably already know from playing the demo, the game is all about speed. In fact when you slow down in the game, you loose quite a-bit of adrenaline that you build while running from roof top to roof top. Seriously how many games can do that? And that’s exactly what the trailer is trying to show off.
If you’re still on the fence with this one, we say — get it. In fact, our own Nick Collins has already peed his pants in anticipation for the parkour inspired game.

The next video showing the story behind the game Mirror’s Edge is now online. The anime style video shows the history of how the main character Faith was taught the ways of a ‘runner’, by having her apprentice doing the voiceover and showing a montage of her in training.
One thing we noticed in the video is Faith lacking her tattoos on her arm. But her ‘master’ had the design we’re used to her having. Could the ink on the arms be some kind of tradition in the underground organization? We think it’s a safe be.
Mirror’s Edge is coming out for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 11, 2008.

EA and DICE are expecting big things for Mirror’s Edge. Earlier in the month they bragged how they believe the game has the potential of selling more than 3 million copies worldwide when its released in mid-November. Not only do they think the whole gaming world is going to buy into the Parkour inspired game, they also plan on making it a trilogy. It was confirmed by DICE senior producer Owen O’Brien while speaking with AusGamers:
“The story we’re telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc. I think there’s a lot of scope to take the story in different directions, or maybe tell someone else’s story. But certainly for these first couple games, it’s all about Faith. It’s all about her experience in the world.”
While the game seems very refreshing and it’s kind of a new type of genre (FPS/Platformer), we’re just not sure how three games will be. DICE would have to get pretty creative because the biggest thing that scares us about the game is how repetitive it could become. And we’re just talking about playing through the first game once. It’s also great to know ( ***SPOILER***) Faith doesn’t die. Thanks for sharing that with us Mr. O’Brien!
Although he also spilled the beans about what they plan on doing with the future titles and the features it might include — namely a level editor:
“It’s something we’re probably going to look at for the sequel. It will be great, it really will be great. Creating a level editor is a skill in itself, and that’s a lot of work. And if we do it, we want to make the level editor as easy to use and intuitive as the game is. And that’s going to take us quite a lot of time. So that’s something we’re looking at for the sequel.”
While this could be an awesome feature to have, we just wish it was included in the first game. By the time a sequel is released for Mirror’s Edge, we think ‘level editors’ will become a standard in games. So in the end, a level editor in Mirror’s Edge ‘2′ won’t be as innovative as it sounds when it’s released in a year or two.

Two of the biggest games of the year have collided thanks to LittleBigPlanet. EA’s Mirror’s Edge has been ‘remade’ in the LittleBigPlanet level editor and its pretty damn creative.
Although the video is shaky and grainy, you certainly get a good idea of the level. And the one thing that sticks out from the level are the colors. The creator of the world even had the color red guide the player while going through the level, just like what Mirror’s Edge does — pretty awesome stuff. After the jump, check out more videos relating to Mirror’s Edge and LBP. (more…)

EA and DICE have announced the soundtrack for the game Mirror’s Edge. It was told during our time with the hands-on preview of the time trial mode, that the song we all heard when the first trailer debuted was sung by Lisa Miskovsky who is a Swedish musician.
There will also be remixes from the same song, artist include: Paul Van Dyk, Teddybears, Junkie XL, Benny Benassi, and Armand Van Helden. The soundtrack will be made available on November 11. But starting this week if you head down to your local Best Buy and pre-order Mirror’s Edge for either Xbox 360 or PS3, you’ll receive the Miskovsky song for free and even the code that lets you unlock the time trial mode for the Demo. Well, worth a deposit of 5 bucks!

We were lucky enough to attended an event for EA’s FPS/platformer Mirror’s Edge for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Not only did we get to mingle with the developers of the project, we had a chance to check out the time trial portion — which will be made available through a demo if you pre-order it next month.
If you haven’t read much into DICE’s next ambitious project, then let’s get you up to speed. The story follows a female lead named ‘Faith,’ and in the not so decent future her government has controlled its people from thinking on its own — by brainwashing them. Not in a literal sense, but putting fear in the population and telling them the government is their to protect them from outside evil. It’s obvious the story is heavily influenced by the book “1984,” and maybe even taken from current events from around the world. (more…)

According to Gamestop’s Website, the ambitious Mirror’s Edge Demo is going to be released on November 6, 5 days before the game is out in stores. As we reported a week ago, if you pre-order the game you’ll also have access to unlock an exclusive Time Trail Mode where you race against the clock. Details below;

After getting a glimpse of the game at E3, we can tell you we’re picking it up. It’s great to see EA taking a different approach to developing games as well as taking a risk like Mirror’s Edge. Because of this, people will start to have a new respect for the gaming giant.
FYI-We’re so excited about the game, we plan on pre-ordering the $130 ‘Limited Edition’ which comes with the kick-ass Timbuk2 bag.

The story telling in Mirror’s Edge seems to take the animation that was in Kill Bill and combines story elements from George Orwell’s book 1984, which is a good thing.
The story follows ‘Faith,’ a young woman who is trying to free her sister from a government that controls people with fear, while calling it for the “greater good.” The same government killed her parents who were protesting at the time because of their unethical practice of power. Faith witnessed the horror of her parents getting killed and it forced her to live on the ’streets’ her whole life.
The story seems personal, which could translate well to the player. Check out the video above.

Days after EA announced consumers will have the options to purchase a $150 Limited Edition for Dead Space. They now have plans to release more crazy expensive CE games. Because they’re offering a $130 bundle for Mirror’s Edge. I might have to go for this one, not only do you get the game but you’ll also receive a Timbuk2 bag. Some of you might be wondering why would you need to spend $130 because Gamestop is giving away one for free is you pre-order the $60 version.
I’m going to simply tell you why, Timbuk2 bags are hands down the BEST damn messenger bags on the planet. The San Francisco bag company generally sells their bags no less than $70 and the skies the limit from there.
Coincidentally, I’ve been meaning to go down to their store here in SF to pick up a new one. But with this exclusive design featuring the ME logo on the front and faith’s face inside the bag, this is no doubt getting my 130 hard earn cash.
Thank you EA and thank you Timbuk2!!!

EA has released concept footage of what they were going after when they first thought up Mirror’s Edge. The “Proof of Concept” trailer shows EA and DICE defiantly came close to their original idea when compare it to the final product — with some minor changes of course.
Obviously from the start, the game today looks way-way better now than it did. Mainly because developers are not looking to create any kind of texture or beauty to the game, but more about the mechanics surrounding the gameplay. The biggest thing we noticed that’s different from the finished product is the main character. The original concept gives us the impression the designer had a male lead, instead of the female star we have now — whose name is ‘Faith.’
We really do give props to DICE, if most companies were to watch a video like this, we bet most of them would be concerned to any kind of money towards the game. It really was and is an experimental project. And it looks like the payoff will be well worth it.

Mirror’s Edge is getting a lot of buzz, and its well deserving I might add. When the game was first announced it seemed to a lot people that the game was going to be an exclusive to the PS3 (when does EA have exclusives?). When the rumors were squashed, gamers who owned multiple systems were asking the common question they usually run into, ‘what system will I buy if for?’
Sony might have just answered the question. Mirror’s Edge will not be a time exclusive, according to Sony, but it will have exclusive DLC through PSN.
“There was a misunderstanding in terms of the quote that Mirror’s Edge is to be a timed exclusive on PS3,”… The game is multi-platform, although PlayStation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title, and exclusive downloadable content will be offered on the PlayStation Network.”
So I bought GTA IV for my Xbox because of the DLC, and now I’m buying Mirror’s Edge for the PS3 for the exact same reason.
