Rofang on youtube created an entertaining short film staring Mega Man. Right away, you’ll noticed he used sprites similar to the original Mega Man that was available for the NES back in the 80s.
The story revolves around the Blue Bomber chilling on top of a building — when all of a sudden something shoots at his head. He than proceeds to turn around and sees one of his enemies Hard Hat hiding…in his hard hat. Mega Man than proceeds to find almost every weapon in his arsenal to destroy his opponent. But does it work?
The weapons and utility items are from Mega Man 1-6, Mega Man I-V (Game Boy), Mega Man 7-8, Mega Man & Bass, Mega Man Powered Up, Mega Man 9.

I’m sure you all saw the awesome press kits for Mega Man 9 and said to yourself, “Damn, I want one.” Now you can thanks to Capcom — you can now buy one. Starting tomorrow, October 9th at 3PM PST, they’ll be going on sale for a price of $49.99
If you’re on the fence about buying the press kit, you better make up your mind soon. Capcom expects these puppies to see out fast. So fast that even if you get to the site right at 3pm PST, you STILL might not get one.
We’re pretty sure down the line the kits will be worth a pretty penny. It might not be a bad investment to purchase one.

Wii and PS3 owners, if you have completely played beginning to end Mega Man 9 200 times, than today should a great day for ya. Capcom has officially released their Downloadable Content for the Blue Bomber’s ninth installment on WiiWare and PSN. Here is what to expect:
Endless Attack – Test your skills on a stage without end. Try to break the record for getting the farthest. Results will be displayed in the Rankings page. Not compatible with other Challenges.
Proto Man Mode – Play the game as Proto Man. Some of Proto Man’s abilities may differ from Mega Man’s. Proto Man has the Charge Shot ability, Power Slide ability, and a shield that he can utilize to deflect bullets at enemies. However, Proto Man also takes double damage and has double bounce back when he is hit.
Although, we do like the fact of having extra content for a game that is considered ’short’ by todays standard, we just would gave liked to maybe have seen some new levels as opposed to ‘Endless Attack.’ On top of that, I think Capcom might have just screwed us. It’s not like Mega Man 9 came out 6 months ago, are you telling me they couldn’t have released these features with the original download?
Oh well, the DLC will also be available on and Xbox Live (October 7).

Xbox owners, have you felt left out because your system of choice is the last console to receive the ultra-awesome throw-back game Mega Man 9? Starting today, your life is about to get a little easier because Capcom has released the ninth installment of the Blue Bomber on Microsoft’s next-gen system. The game will cost 800 MS Points and if you want all the DLC, it’ll set you back a total of about $18.
Although, if you own all three systems and wondering which version you should purchase, we say anything besides the Xbox 360 (Sorry Xbox fanboys). Trust us, it’s not because we think the other systems are superior, we just couldn’t play Mega Man using MS’s horrible D-pad. And we’re certainly not using the analog stick for a ‘retro’ game.

You know the awesome t-shirt drawn by the i am 8-bit guys and was inspired by Mega Man 9? If you do, you can now pre-order it from Capcom. The shirt will set you back $24.99, but if you consider yourself a ‘hardcore‘ gamer, its well worth it.

I’ve talked to many people about Mega Man 9 and the return to its roots with 8-bit gaming. While most praised Capcom’s decision on making the game feel like it belonged in the 80’s, a select few thought it was all gimmick. They even went as far to say that people would be turned off by the retro look and feel. They thought potential buyers of the game would feel it’s far inferior compared to today’s games.
Those same people who thought the game didn’t have appeal to gamers — were way off. Sales data for the first day has come out and to say it sold well is an understatement. Mega Man 9 has been downloaded 60,000 times. It outsold every single WiiWare game to date besides six titles and should surpass those within a month.
With the game selling for $10, that means the Capcom has already made $600,000 and it’s only available ONE system. How much money will be earned when PSN and XBLA users get the chance to download the ninth installment of the franchise? My guess, butt-loads…

Capcom has released information on what their planning for downloadable content for Mega Man 9. As we mentioned earlier in the week, they’ll have Proto Man as a playable character available on October 6th. Thankfully, Capcom has more content on the way and we have it thanks to Official Nintendo Magazine (UK). The dates are for the UK, but we believe we could see the DLC on the same day or around the same time. As for the other versions of the game, expect to see the same DLC for XBLA and PSN.
10/06/08: Endless Attack (300 Points) – A special extra stage that never ends. You have to see how far you can get before dying. This stage will have its own leaderboard in the world rankings.
10/20/08: Hero Mode (100 Points) – A harder difficulty level which sees more enemies on each stage. Doesn’t count in the world rankings.
10/20/08: Superhero Mode (100 Points) – An even harder difficulty level with even more enemies on each stage. Doesn’t count in the world rankings.
10/20/08: Special Stage (100 Points) – A completely new Time Attack stage, with a different boss at the end. This stage will have its own leaderboard in the world rankings.
After playing the the game, I can’t even imagine how hard ‘SuperHero Mode‘ could even be playable considering the difficulty it already is. But of course I’m going to download it.

After months of neglect, I’ve turned on my Wii and have officially downloaded the Mega Man 9. Earlier in the year, I had the ability to play the re-retro game at this past E3 and let me tell you, it’s hard. If you were born sometime in the 90’s, understand something, when 8-bit gamers mean hard, we don’t mean hard like we can’t get an achievement. We mean hard like you can’t beat the first level.
So if you own a Wii, make sure you pay the $10 right now and start downloading! And if some of you are new to 8-bit games and don’t believe it’s worth spending 10 bucks for a game that doesn’t hold up today in terms of graphics — just remember, we used to pay $50 for a game like this! And sometimes, well a lot of times, they’re ‘fun-factor’ was better than todays.
If the Wii wasn’t your system of choice, don’t fret, PS3 is getting Mega Man 9 in a few days, and Xboxers will have the ability to download it on XBLA in October.

If you’re reading this story than chances are you already own or plan on purchasing Mega Man 9. Today is the the big day for Capcom’s 8-bit shooter (on Wii) and they also released some information about DLC for the game.

On October 6, 2008 Capcom promises to release Proto Man (above) for 200 Wii Points ($2), who also made an appearance in Mega Man 3 for the NES. You might not recognize his name but there is a reason for that, his original name in the NES game was actually Break Man. By downloading Proto Man the gameplay will change, the player can then deflect bullets, slide, and charge his shots.
The DLC will be available for Wiiware, XBLA, and PSN.

IGN has the first video review of the throwback/new title Mega Man 9. Editor Mark Bozon praised the game for it’s retro feel saying it, “ends up being a bold move but it works great.” He also added, “The level design in nine is some of the best you’re going to see in 8-bit mega man in history.” Although the game is imperfect in his eyes because he noted, “some of the weaponry can be unbalanced.” But honestly, which Mega Man didn’t have that issue?
Mega Man 9 is scheduled to be available for download the following dates:
Wii: 09/22/2008
PS3: 09/25/2008
Xbox 360: 10/01/2008

It appears that in the very near future, Mega Man will be facing his very first female boss! This is the first ever femail boss in the entire Mega Man catalog.
Robo-lovely Splash Woman is the series’ very first female boss and was created by Mega Man progenitor Keiji Inafune. Besting her gives you the Laser Trident
Mega Man 9 is set for a September 24th release date on Xbox 360 and Wii.

If you’re not excited about the 9th installment of Mega Man, you have no soul. I know it might offend some of you, but the truth can really hurt. Thankfully you can test yourself if you’re not sure, because gametrailers has 3 more direct feeds of the retro game.
After watching the video of the games opening sequence – we loved it so much, we decided it deserved to be on top of this story. And it also makes me officially counting down the days until the game is released on the Wii’s Virtual Console, sometime in mid-September (or so we hope).
The rest of the videos are direct feeds of more levels you’ll encounter as you progress throughout the game. Enjoy humans with souls, the remaining can go search for your spirit in purgatory. Watch the rest of the videos after the break. (more…)

Get ready for tomorrow, because the 1987 NES classic-Mega Man, will be making a appearance on the Wii’s Virtual Console. Then in this September, we get to play the first “real” sequel to Mega Man since 1997-Mega Man 8. This all came Capcom’s official blogs.
“To prepare all you Mega Man fans for the release of Mega Man 9 in September, we’re going to offer you the opportunity to play the game that started it all. The original Mega Man game returns on the Virtual Console this Monday, August 4, 2008. Yes, that’s right.”
It also went on to mention that Mega Man 2 will also be re-released in early September. So starting on Monday, I plan on retooling my retro skills, and play one of the most frustrating 8-bit games ever to be released.

For those excited (like me) about playing the nostalgic Mega Man 9 for the Wii, but can’t stand turning the Wiimote sideways and playing it like an old NES controller. Have no fear, Capcom has stated that we can plug in Gamecube or the Wii Classic Controller and play. If you want to feel like you’re really living in the 80’s, you can buy the retro adapter for the Gamecube and hook up an NES controller to your Wii. Sadly, I just might do that.
