25 Necessary Improvements for Madden 2010

*Not the actual cover*

Now that the NFL season is over (does anyone watch the Pro Bowl?), and I’ve finished my 6th franchise season in Madden ‘09, I’ve been thinking of the things that need to be added, changed, deleted, and tweaked for Madden 2010. Even though this year’s product was better than last year’s, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

So in no particular order, I give you 25 things that should be fixed for Madden 2010.

Super Bowl XLIII: Steelers Win 6th Super Bowl (Madden)

Okay, so my Patriots are not in the Super Bowl this year. In fact, after last year’s SB defeat and Brady going down for the year — football has really been hard to watch. But that doesn’t mean I’m not super excited about the Super Bowl. On February 1,2008 the Pittsburgh Steelers will battle it out against the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLlII (43) at Tampa, FL.

However, like every other year, EA has simulated the Super Bowl. In the video up top, you can watch the highlights of Madden’s prediction of who is gonna win. According to the game, the Steelers will beat the Cards 23-11.

If the simulation holds true, I’m going to have to listen to Chad over at Ripten about how the Steelers‘ QB Ben Roethlisberger, is almost as good as Tom Brady. All I have to say is; “Chad, if I ever learned anything from Vin Diesel in the film ‘The Fast And The Furious,’ it is — almost isn’t good enough. And oh, Brady’s girlfriend is also hotter!”

EA Spells Brett Favre, Brett Farve in Madden 09′

The most “advance” football game of all time looks to have made a pretty funny goof. EA has been running with the whole ‘Brett Favre being traded to the Jets’ story. They have been talking about how they’ll have the quarterback on the Jets with a downloadable roster update, and even going as far to give us the ability to print out new covers for the game with Favre in a Jets uniform. A reader over at kotaku found that EA loves Favre so much, they misspelled his name by spelling it FARVE in the collector’s edition of Madden 09‘. Somewhere, an EA employee has said, “Shit” multiple times today.

New Cover for Madden 09′ is the Same But With Different Colors

With Brett Favre being traded to the New York Jets after the cover for Madden had been printed with Favre in a Packers uniform, EA promised a new cover would be available via online. All you have to do is download the new picture, print it out, slip the old cover out of the case, slide the new one in, and you’re done. Who in the world would do all that work, and get nothing good in return? Honestly, at least the Packers will win more then eight games this year. Would you rather a winning team on the cover, or some crap team?
Anyway, here is the new cover for Madden. I’m pretty sure the picture has to be photoshopped in some way, Favre has yet to wear a Jets uniform on the field. WAIT, he’s in the same position as Green Bay Packers (more…)

EA Now Brings Us a Trailer of Favre Playing for the Jets in Madden 09′

EA still can’t stop getting as much hype as they can with Brett Favre going to the Jets. It’s getting ridicules seeing Madden 09′ everywhere because the the legendary QB was traded earlier this week. When EA announced they were going to use Favre as their cover athlete for Madden, a lot of gamers were asking; why would EA put a retired player on the cover of their biggest franchise? The question has been answered, EA knew this was going to happen, and understood they could get free advertisement all over TV and the web.
Okay, I’m being sarcastic, but it does make EA look incredibly smart, doesn’t it? Check out the trailer of Brett Favre beating the New England Patriots. Although, keep dreaming Jet fans, this isn’t happing in the regular season, I’m sure the Pat’s have plenty of video footage of Favre as well…

EA Already has a Picture of Favre in a Jets Uniform in Madden 09′

Green Bay Packer fans look away. EA Sports has already released what Brett Favre will look like in a Jets uniform in their football game. It’s funny to see EA try to get as much hype as they can possibly get, with Farve on the cover of their biggest franchise – Madden. I know how it feels Cheeseheads, but you can laugh at New York when they still don’t make the playoffs…

EA to Offer a Madden Download with Brett Favre Wearing a Jets Uniform

In case you don’t watch the news, read the newspaper, and don’t look at anything on the internet besides /film or /gamer. Brett Favre, who played for the Packers for the last 17 years and is on the cover of Madden 09′, was traded last night to the New York Jets. When I heard the news, the first thing I thought was, what is EA going to do with their Madden Cover?
A spokesperson from EA said they have a plan,

“We do not plan to re-issue packaging, but WILL offer a free downloadable cover in the coming days on easports.com featuring Brett Favre in a Jets uniform. Fans can print this new cover out and insert it into the case of Madden NFL 09,”

So there, if you’re that nuts and need to print out a cover of Brett Favre wearing a Jets uniform, you’re all set. But honestly, who really needs to do that?

E3 08′: 5 Reasons Why Madden Won’t Suck This Year

Over the last eight years or so, I haven’t been the nicest person to the Madden franchise. Especially, since they made their debut on the next generation systems. Every year, I would purchase the NFL 2K series over Madden. When Sega’s NFL 2K5 came out, I thought, “it will never get better then this”, and it didn’t.

I understood why fans of Madden loved their franchise, it was a great game for last generation and deserved the recognition. But for me, 2K was the better choice. I was so disappointed when the NFL let EA buy out the rights, that my heart sank.  No more would I see my beloved football game, and worse, no more competition for EA. (more…)
