Somehow Markus Persson’s de-made Valve’s Left 4 Dead into a simple Java game. The game, which is cleverly titled ‘Left 4K Dead‘ was built to compete in the Java 4K Coding Competition. Although it’s nearly as fun as it’s big brother — it’s certainly additive nonetheless.
Persson did a fantastic job of setting the tone of the game. By giving it a grainy look, as well as having a flashlight; any fan of the actual game should enjoy this. The game controls a lot like Smash TV, but with a flashlight.

We’ve shown countless videos and screenshots of Valve’s next first person shooter Left 4 Dead. However, everything that has been shown up till this point hasn’t really show-off the pure insanity of the gameplay.
Thanks to G4, we now have embedded a video that features almost 15 minutes of nothing but gameplay. What you get is an idea of what so many people have been talking about since it was first debuted earlier in the year — fantastic mindless shooting.
However, the game isn’t perfect and the video certainly shows it. First and foremost, it looks like the player is playing in the single player mode. The biggest thing we stress about the game is that it isn’t designed for just one person to play through it. It absolutely should be played online with real people. If you don’t, you’ll notice right away that the A.I. is terrible. So bad that sometimes when the NPC’s are suppose to follow you — They won’t. And it’s evident in the video.
Another thing that bothers us, but not necessarily as bad as out first complaint — is because of the randomness of where the zombies come from, you’ll see them in odd places. Just watch the video, sometimes you’ll see them standing on a couch and other times on a kitchen counter. It’s looks a bit odd.
Of course, as long as you play the game online — it should easily be one of your favorites this year. And should be in contention for ‘Game of the Year.’ If you’re still on the fence for the FPS, starting today (not right at the moment), the game will have a demo available, so make sure you at least try that.

For the last few months, rumors were surrounding the possibility of Valve’s next first-person-shooter Left 4 Dead was at one point — heading to PS3. Sadly, the rumblings about a PS3 port have been squashed by one of the writers of the game, Chet Faliszek:
“Many people say that they heard rumors that Left4Dead is coming to PS3, however despite telling them this isn’t true they still don’t believe us, what more can we say than it is not.”
Despite the repeated reports of a PS3 version was on its way, Valve repeatedly said they didn’t have plans for one. Of course in the day-in-age of video game blogs, ‘not having plans’ – translates to: ‘most likely yes.’ Obviously with Valve, it means no.
And after seeing the Orange Box debacle with the PS3 version, we shouldn’t be all that surprised. From the game being plagued with major frame-rate issues to having online server problems, Valve looks to be finished on working with Sony’s console in the foreseeable future.
However, depending on sales for Left 4 Dead and how well the PS3 moves systems this holiday season, we still think we might see Left 4 Dead for the PlayStation 3. It really depends on how EA can handle the servers with the system and if they believe it could sell. And we think it would. Heck, Valve doesn’t necessarily have to even port it over to the PS3, EA could simply hire another team to do the dirty work. So in the end, Valve never lied.
But at this point — it doesn’t look good but we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled.

Just a heads up to everyone who pre-ordered the Left 4 Dead for the Xbox 360 and who has received an email with the exclusive code to download — you can now do it. Valve announced the download began around 2:00 am PST and will run through November 11, 2008.
If you haven’t pre-ordered the game and still want it, it’s not to late — just head down to your local Gamestop and reserve. In about a day or so, the company should send you a email that will include a code that will invite you to the demo. Trust us, if you haven’t done it yet, do so NOW, it’s that good.

If you were expecting mindless shooting for Valve’s next first person shooter Left 4 Dead — than you’re right. But it seems they’ve also included a story that feels very much like a summer blockbuster than just a game. A video was just released of one of the opening cinematic scenes and we must say, we’re impressed!
We haven’t seen much of the story up to this point, but judging from the movie above, the game looks to include good writing, editing, music and the direction is fantastic. Heck, even the acting is decent and that’s something that is generally a flaw in the gaming world.
Our personal favorite scene in the cinematic is when all four characters are surrounded by the zombies. From that moment on — it feels like an epic action packed film and not a game. Every time we see something new about Left 4 Dead, we think it truly has the potential of easily being one of the ‘games of the year.’
Left 4 Dead will be available in stores on November 18th and remember to pre-order the game to receive early access to the online demo on November 6th.

Valve has released a new patch of screenshots featuring their highly anticipated game Left 4 Dead (PC, Xbox 360). The shots supposedly take place around an airport but some are obviously on top of apartment buildings in a city.
These shots prove how different the environments are, which should translate to unbelievably fun levels and yet no matter how much we play — none of us who own the game should be bored.
Left 4 Dead will be in stores on November 11th. And don’t forget about the demo which will be available on Xbox Live starting Nov. 6th if you pre-order the game at Gamestop. So if you’re still not sure about this future gem, make sure you check out the demo. Check out the pictures after the jump. (more…)

If you had the opportunity to receive the Call of Duty beta, you might have been wondering if there were any other modes to be included in the game when the final version is in stores. Apparently there is and it’s a weird one.
Activision and Treyarch are featuring a mode were you and your buddies go into battle, but instead of fighting people, you’re shooting down the dreaded Nazi Zombies from World War II. Watching the video above — it does look entertaining and obviously heavily influenced by Valve’s Left 4 Dead. And to be honest, I’m going to stick with that instead. But when it comes to killing ‘real’ Nazi’s, COD: WoW is what I’ll use.

Gamestop is getting another neat bonus offer if you pre-order a game. If you reserve Left 4 Dead on the Xbox 360, the video game retail chain will email you a code to play the demo before everyone else. The online demo will start for Gamestop customers on November 6th and will end on the 11th. You can either purchase the game with the demo through their website or you can do it at your local Gamestop.

If you don’t have a Gamestop around you or refuse to do business with them because of some grudge you had with them in the past, Valve has confirmed a demo for everyone that can be downloaded on Marketplace — just at this point in time, we don’t know when that will start. But one would have to assume it’ll be one LIVE shortly after the 6th.
Left 4 Dead will be available for both Xbox 360 and PC owners on November 18, 2008.

Valve and EA have promised the demo for the highly anticipated zombie-killing gorefest Left 4 Dead is going to be released around Halloween — how appropriate. Valve’s marketing VP Doug Lombardi has confirmed not only will a demo be available for download for the PC and Xbox 360, but will include the first two missions of the ‘survivor campaign mode.’ The level will be set inside the hospital map and will feature cooperative online play with up to four players.
Although, if you hope to eat your buddies brains in the demo, you’ll have to wait for the retail version — because it will not be included in the demo.
The full version for Left 4 Dead is scheduled to come out in stores on November 18.

If you’re one of the many jealous PS3 owners who are hoping to see Valve’s Left 4 Dead to make an appearance on your system this year, then you should keep dreaming. VP of marketing Doug Lombardi confirmed it while interviewing with CVG:
“There’s zero chance of it happening this year. It’s something that’s being talked about right now as the game is gaining popularity and looking like it’s going to be a hit.”
Sounds like their more than just talking about it. Our guess; Valve has already decided to developed a PS3 version of their zombie killing game and at one point we should hear an official announcement.
We know Lombardi said it’s not happening this year but he clearly made sure not to rule out next year as a possibility. On top of that, the company he works for is having his game being published by a company who never has an exclusive game for any system — and that’s EA.
It would be a mistake not to let PS3 owners enjoy this living dead bloodfest.

We’ve got our hands on 20 new screens for Valve’s next Zombie infested first person shooter, Left 4 Dead, and boy does it look fun. Overall the game looks amazing, the one thing I think could make this become a gem isn’t necessarily the sheer number of zombies that are on display, but the environments of the game. I love how some of the levels feel open and easy for some good ol’ zombie killing, but than you walk in a house and it doesn’t look so simple.
And why is one of the players named Uwe? I hope it’s not because of the infamous Uwe Boll…
Check out the screens after the jump.

Damn, does Left 4 Dead look freaking fun to us. If you’re still not convinced, than watch this video. If your still not looking forward to the game after viewing it, than I believe you’re actually a zombie and are offended by the game. The more I watch new videos come out for the game, I’m just amazed to see the large number of the undead on the screen at once. Not only that, but how fast they’re moving while the game is being played online.
Make sure you watch the video all the way to the end, because when one of the players in the game dies, zombies swarm all over the body and start to rip it apart. It reminds me of the George A. Romero movie.

Valve is quickly trying to make Left 4 Dead on the Xbox 360 one of the better online experiences for the console. Some features of the game have come out thanks to 1up. The biggest and most exciting news that Valve has decided to implement are dedicated servers. If some people are wondering why that’s important it is because it has the ability to include large environments as well as player counts online with very little lag.
It only makes sense why Valve choose dedicated servers, all you have to do is watch one trailer and you’ll understand there is a lot of shit going on. After the jump, check out some small tidbits after the game. (more…)

If you of the millions of people that can’t wait to play EA and Valve’s Survival Horror - First Person Shooter Left 4 Dead, you might be able to get your sweaty hands on it a little early.
