Killzone 2 Soundtrack Now Available on iTunes

Here’s a quick note about some gaming music. The soundtrack to Killzone 2 is now available in the iTunes store. The album, which contains the original score from the hit first-person shooter, is composed by Joris de Man.
While I found the game fun, I didn’t necessarily think the score was anything magical or even added to the experience. It wasn’t bad in the least, but it didn’t have that memorable sound like other action titles, which would include Halo or even the Call of Duty series. I guess if you’re a hardcore Killzone 2 player, than this is something you might want to check out.
The whole album consists of 29 total songs, includes a digital booklet and costs $9.99. Click here to view it on iTunes.killzoneeyes

bbyps3deal

A few days ago, we told you about an awesome bundle Best Buy was offering. For only $399, you can get LittleBigPlanet, the Pixar film WALL-E on Blu-ray and a 80GB PlayStation 3. Not a bad deal right? Well, the same retailer looks like they have even a better one on sale now.

For the same price, Kotaku is reporting from Best Buy employees that the company is selling a PS3 but packaged with Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Just like the other bundle, if you choose to buy this, you will save about $90.

Could this be a sign that the heavily rumored ‘PS3 Slim‘ is indeed coming because companies are trying to get of their old stock of systems? Possibly…

Guerrilla Games: New Killzone 2 DLC is the “Best Looking Thing We Have Ever Made”

Killzone 2 is probably one of the best visually looking games to come out for this generation. Guerrilla Games, really went beyond what many people thought was possible on the powerful system and they were not that far off from their amazing pre-rendered video from E3 2005.

With that said, the studio actually believes they are working on some new downloadable content which will outdo the original game’s graphics. Heck, its going to be better than anything they have done before. The news came from Sebastian Downie, while he was speaking about new DLC with NextGamer (translated).

“It’s DLC for Killzone 2, and all I can tell you is that it’s best looking thing we have ever made.”

So, a few things comes out of this quote. Not only is the talented company working on new content for they acclaimed first-person shooter, but graphically its going to look better than most games that has come out for the PS3.

Killzone 2: Play Against Developers Today

Do you think you’re the balls at Killzone 2? Do you think you could beat anyone and everyone, as long as there is no lag? Then continue reading. Starting on May 5th, which is today, at 10AM PST/1PM EST, you can play against some of the developers of Killzone 2. That’s right, a few guys over at Guerrilla Games are going to battle it out against you, the players. However, you need to follow a few things before you can start to shooting them.

The first thing you need to have downloaded the new map-pack, which is Steel & Titanium. After that, you have to log onto twitter, and go to the PlayStation Blog’s page. From there, Sony will be handing out passwords, and they only can be obtained through twitter.

When that is completed, simply log into Killzone 2 online play, and find the exact room and enter the password. After that, prepared to get your ass handed to you, by people who created your beloved game.

Thankfully, GG developers are going to make their way around the different servers, and play against random people. So if you don’t get a special password, you might still have a chance to show your ’skills’ to the talented developers

Alex Armour over at the official PlayStation blog, has confirmed the day the Killzone 2 downloadable content will be available. According to him, we should see the two new maps on April 30 on PSN.

Since the maps were first announced on Gametrailers TV, rumors had surfaced about “Steel and Titanium” possibly being free when they are both released together. However, Alex mentioned that a price had yet to be established by Guerilla Games or Sony. Because that was thrown in there, we are pretty sure that means it’ll cost ya something. Hopefully no more than $2.99, though.

Video Walk-Through for Killzone 2’s DLC

Guerilla Games is set to deliver two downloadable multiplayer maps for their fantastic first-person shooter Killzone 2. The new heavily rumored DLC was first announced during an episode of GameTrailers TV. Now, the company has released a video walk-through of each level. The first one is being called Vekta Cruiser, the map is designed for battles to take place on separate levels. One person could attack above or below you, which should make for some somewhat ’stealthy,’ firefights.

The other map is titled Wasteland Bullet. The obvious feature that this level introduces are two train. Each player will start somewhere on one of the two locomotives. As the player tries to kill and avoid players around him, he/she also will have to watch out for deadly debris and objects flying by, while the trains are moving at high-speeds. Not only that, each soldier can jump from one train to the other, even with both speeding down the tracks.

Oddly enough, this DLC for the exclusive PS3 game, reminds me of two titles for Sony’s rival, the Xbox 360. Vekta Cruiser sorta seemed like Halo, with its elevation and shininess. While Wasteland Bullets has a Gears of War type feel. The moving engine and grittiness, suggested to me, that someone over at Guerilla Games played Gears.

After the jump, watch both videos.

DLC Info for Killzone 2

During GameTrailers TV, Guerrilla Games’s Hermen Hulst talked about the new downloadable content for Killzone 2. The studio will be releasing two maps for multiplayer for the first-person shooter. The map-pack will be titled ‘Steel & Titanium‘ and will feature two completely different types of fighting arenas. The first map talked about, had what looked to be an inclosed area, however, the map is going to involve different levels. Meaning, when the player is fighting online, he/she will not only have to watch out for enemies around him/her, but also above and below.

The next map is going to incorporate two high speed trains. When the game starts, each player will began somewhere on one of the two trains. As the player progresses through the round, they must move around the trains, even jump from one locomotive to another. Which should make multiplayer games very interesting. Although, they must also refrain from obstacles, because as the train is moving at high speeds — the debris can kill them.

Up top and below are screen captures from the show. Sorry about the quality.

Dutch Mag Confirms Killzone 3 in Development

One of Sony’s biggest games of 2009 is undoubtedly Killzone 2. Even though the game has yet to be released, Dutch magazine ‘Power Unlimited‘ is reporting Guerilla Games is already hard at work creating a few more installments.

The studio has a total of three teams who work inside the company and according to the magazine, one of them is developing Killzone 3 for the PS3. Although no other information is detailed, it looks like Sony is already betting that Killzone 2 is going to be a huge success — and who can blame them?

Also, another team has already begun work on a sequel to the handheld version of Killzone: Liberation for the PSP. The mag believes the next installment should be out sometime in 2010.

Sony is shipping Killzone 2 on February 27, 2009.

Dutch Site Reporting DLC for Killzone 2 Soon After the Launch

Sony’s epic first-person-shooter Killzone 2 will be arriving in stores soon. However, that has not stopped Guerrilla Games, the developers behind the title, to think about the future. According to the Dutch site PSFocus.nl, the company is already hard at work creating new downloadable content for the game. But get this, the team is promising the content will be available in the PlayStation Store soon after the game is released.

What does ’soon after’ mean? Well, to be honest we’re not to sure, but we would guess a month or two. Either way, this is a great way for Killzone 2 to stay fresh and compete against some strict competition. Of course, Sony needs Killzone 2 to become a mega-hit and prove to gamers that they also have a revered FPS exclusive on the console. So, something like quick DLC is a great way to prove that.

Killzone 2 Trailer: Watch Enemies Die in Slow-Mo

Killzone 2 – Hit Response Trailer
by dpadmagazine

If you are wondering why people are excited to get their hands on Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3, look no further than the trailer above. Sony and Guerrilla Games have decided to release a trailer featuring many of the soldiers included in the game and getting shot…in slow-motion. As sick as it sounds; it is a thing of beauty.

When we had our first opportunity to the play the first-person-shooter at last E3, two things popped out of the screen. One was the obvious; the graphics were gorgeous. But the second hasn’t been talked about nearly as much and it is the way enemies die. There was something about pounding a enemy with lead and seeing each and every bullet impact his body. It was something disturbingly real…and cool! Watch the video up top and see what we mean.

Killzone 2 is coming to stores on February 27, 2008.

Pre-Order Killzone 2 at Gamestop, Get a Free Demo (Plus Others)

Have you not decided where you’re going to reserve Killzone 2? We’re guessing if you plan on pre-ordering the game, you’re waiting to see where you are going to get the best freebie. If you haven’t heard by now, a few retailers are giving away some swag if you put some money down on the first person shooter.

Amazon is offering a limited Killzone skin for PSN’s Home. Meaning you can dress up your avatar as one of those creepy soldiers. We thought it was an okay freebie, but then remembered we rarely even touch ‘Home.’

Big box store Best Buy is offering a PlayStation 3 theme. So when you turn on your PS3, you’ll see nothing but some Killzone 2 screenshots and the XMB bar might look a tad different. We say; “boring!”

Now we get word that Gamestop is offering their very own freebie. This one for us is the winner. If you put down $5, the video game retailer will than give you a code that will give you access to a demo to the single player campaign. The demo will be made available to all those who pre-ordered it on February 3, 2008. Which if are calculation are correct; that’s 3 weeks before the game is released. Sounds like a pretty good deal to us. And defiantly better than the other crap those other companies are offering.
