Eidos is giving PlayStation 3 owners a lot of love with their highly anticipated Batman: Arkham Asylum game. First we hear the Joker will be a playable character, which is exclusive for the PS3. Now, the publisher, along with Sony, have announced that customers who buy the Batman title for the PS3 will get the Batcave for the Home service. “It’s safe to say that hardcore Batman fans are going to seriously spazz out when they unlock Bruce Wayne’s secondary lair under Arkham,” said a Sony representative.
As you can already tell by the screenshot, not only can you have your Home avatar roam the headquarters of the dark knight, but you can check out the famous Batmobile as well. Although, if I were to choose which exclusive content I like more, it would be hands down playing as the Joker. But I guess it really doesn’t matter because PS3 owners are getting both, while the 360 is getting shafted.

Wait seriously, Sony still believes enough in their Home service they made an advertisement for it? The video, which probably is an online promotion clip, is trying to prove to the world that ‘Home’ is relevant, and is in fact a fun place to waste your time. I totally disagree, and would rather play the shitty Superman 64 game, rather than explore the creepiest online community, where teenage boys dance with virtual girls, but who are actually 40 year-old naked men.
I guess I should note the video at the end has revealed a promotion for PS3 owners. If you log on to your Home account between May 14th-21st, you’ll have the great option to download a “Chamber” apartment for, get this, FREE!
I can hear the naked men screen for joy already…

Is anyone questioning how massive J.J. Abram’s interpretation of Star Trek is going to be? Like seriously, I’ve talked about the film to the manliest men and the geekiest geeks, and most all agreed that they can’t wait to see the film. The flick is unlike any Star Trek movie released, it transcends itself above a nerd film and appeals to pretty much everyone. In the end, this just means we’re going to see a ton of marketing.
Today, we get word that Paramount Pictures and Sony have teamed up to bring us a new line of clothing for PlayStation 3’s Home service. As you can already tell from the picture above, players will be able to dress up their avatar in a Starfleet uniform. I’m sure the few people who actually still play Home and love Star Trek at the same time, can’t wait. If you are one of those crazies, you’ll be able to obtain them starting on April 23.
Oddly enough, I would never be caught wearing one of these in real life, even at my favorite comic book convention. But I kinda dig these, and think their the best avatar clothing that has come out for the online community, thus far. Sony or Paramount have yet to comment if the uniforms are just as realistic as their ‘real life’ counterparts and include a virtual smell to them. Yes to realism!

During a conference in Japan, Sony announced that they have given the okay to allow 24 different companies and publishers including; Ubisoft, EA, Activision and Sega to developed their own exclusive content in their online community Home for the PlayStation 3. Meaning, if any of these companies want to create a room, like the Red Bull Space already online, or any original content, they are free to do so.
However, even though Sony is allowing access to their Home service, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are going to, but our guess in the end they will. After the jump, check out the full list (more…)

Capcom looks like they are a supporter of PlayStation’s Home and in a big way. Famitsu has broke the news that the Japanese company plans on adding two of their biggest franchises to the virtual world.
First up is Street Fighter IV and when the game is officially released, a patch will be available for download. The update will allow players to meet up in their living space in Home and meet the players before they begin an online match. On top of that, you can dress your Avatar as one of the fighters; for a fee of course — joy!!

Capcom is also developing game space that looks very much like the first level of Resident Evil 5. Not much is known what players will do in the space — but we are pretty sure every guy will hit on the one girl in the room (she’s probably a dude). Judging by the pictures, it looks like you will also be able to dress your Avatar as Chris Redfield.

The funny guys over at Mega64 have created another video featuring their humorous antics. ‘Anthony Funn‘ from Sony who “represents the Home division,” walks around and tries his best to convince people how “fun” Home is — by comparing it to reality.
The point of the clip is to prove how ‘unaspiring’ Home truly is. Think about it, everything he is talking about that you can do in Home — is actually the boring stuff we do in life on a daily basis. It’s not Mega64’s best video, but it does get a point across.

During G4’s ‘Attack of the Show’ Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn played around with Sony’s ‘Home.’ The segment wasn’t very kind to the community service. They mocked some of the ‘awesome’ features like using real money to pay for a virtual couch and sit on it (amazing).
At one point they invited viewers of the show to party in their virtual apartments, but it didn’t end up being as cool as they were hoping for. Check out the video up top.

After two years of consistent waiting, Sony has officially confirmed the date for their free community interactive service for the PlayStation 3, ‘Home.’ On December 11, 2008 PS3 owners will have the ability to download the service through PSN and it will be available around the world. Although we’re excited to finally get our hands on the service, we still wonder if people really care and if it was worth the time and effort for Sony to put so energy into the project.
When it is released to the public for the first time this Thursday, Sony is still calling it a beta but just openly making it available to everyone. So in theory, it’s still hasn’t been released as a final product.
After the jump, read the full press release. (more…)

When we all heard about Home for the PlayStation 3 for the first time 100 years ago, we were extremely curious about the interactive community. No one could argue about the project being one of the most ambitious things Sony has ever done. At the same time, we wondered if anyone would actually use the software over a section screen like the super easy to use XMB for the same system. Either way, we couldn’t wait to at least try it. Of course, I’m pretty sure gamers didn’t think it would take this long for the service to be released.
However, Sony has been adamant about Home being released to the public by the end of this year. Although even though they have promised, they have yet to give a specific date and this year ends in only a few weeks.
However, according to the British publication Times Online, Home will be available by next Wednesday.
“To try Home, which is slated for release in the next 10 days, players must download a piece of free software from Sony’s PlayStation store onto their own PS3.”
There is a possibility that Sony gave them an actual date — manly because of how large the site is and who reads it. Although our guess if this is the real date; they were not supposed to reveal it until Sony makes an official announcement. (more…)

Didn’t get into the Home beta, but wanted to see what the hoopla was all about? Thanks to G4, we now bring you over 15 minutes of someone playing the new program which is soon to be available for the PS3.
While we’re somewhat excited to play with some of the free mini games included with the download, we’re just not sure how long we can possibly enjoy it. Sure, it’s going to be fun to explore and interact with people. On top of that we are all about an open-world, but could we get bored fairly quickly? On top of that, was it worth the time and investment for Sony to build the virtual world when honestly — it’s probably not going to sell more systems.
Although, we think it’s the right step in a direction for a ‘community’ interface. But are people ready for it?

Look at Sony, they are trying to get their Qore service as popular as they can. For the last few months, they’ve been giving away beta invites for some of their biggest games of the year and the only way to get them is if you have a Qore subscription.
In November, if you have a yearly subscription to Qore or buy the service next month, Sony will invite you to the PlayStation ‘Home‘ beta, according to PS3fanboy. If you’re interested in Qore and/or the Home beta, it will set you back $2.99 for the month or $24.99 for the year.
I would like to see the numbers Sony has made of their new service, because I bet most people only purchase it for the demo’s and not the shows…and they obviously know this.

A Sony developer who works closely with Playstation’s Home Network, revealed how some PSN users will be able to receive an invite to the beta by just playing more online. Calling it a reward to their users. He also mentioned it wasn’t 100% going to happen but, he believes that’s what Sony is trying to do. But he couldn’t confirm if it will happen.
He went on to discuss, that they should have about 60,000 people for the beta by the time it’s available to the pubic later this year.
So get those Playstation 3’s running 24/7, because your chances might go up
