New Trailer for Guitar Hero: Metallica

A new trailer for Guitar Hero: Metallica has made its way online. We would love to dissect the video and give you our expert analysis of the clip, but honestly…its just Guitar Hero…with Metallica and some other bands. Although, we do like the feel of when Metallica plays, it certainly reminds us of one of their high-intensity concerts.

Metallica gets Sirius!

Metallica is taking over the airwaves of Sirius XM Radio this Saturday, March 14th for a full month. To my fellow Sirius XM subscribers and fellow metal heads out there, this takeover will be on Sirius Channel 27, Liquid Metal, and turn into Mandatory Metallica until the 13th of April. (Yes, Liquid Metal will return to its full glory after the 30 day take over)

You’ll hear virtually every song from the Metallica catalog, including rare live cuts from the band’s personal archives and new songs from their latest platinum album, Death Magnetic.

Some of you may be thinking… “What the hell does this have to do with the gaming industry?” Well, according to an email I received from Sirius XM this morning (which most subscribers should have received), they stated the following…

The launch of the channel coincides with the release of “Guitar Hero: Metallica” on March 29, as well as the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 4.

(one of these days I’ll go to the Rock Hall… I stare at it every day out of my office window)

Is anyone looking forward to Guitar Hero: Metallica? If so, which Mighty Met song are you most excited to rock out to? (click here to refresh your memory on the track list…)

4 Guitar Heros to be Released in 2009

Man of man, is Activision totally trying to milk the Guitar Hero franchise. During a conference call today, the publisher has announced that they plan to release not one, not two, not three, but four different Guitar Hero games in 2009!

Obviously, Guitar Hero: Metallica has already been revealed by the company. But they also expect to release Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits later this year. The title pretty much says it all; the game will feature the ‘best of the best’ songs from the previous versions (yay?).

The next game to be release this year is the new DS game Guitar Hero: Modern Hits (named rumored). The game is probably coming out as quickly as possible because they want to make sure it’s in stores before the DSi is released. Because the slot to put the extra accessory will be gone and the game won’t be playable on the newer handhelds.

The last entry to come out later this year does not have a lot of info. The only thing that was said was by Activision’s Mike Griffith, and he called it a “major re-stage” of the franchise with “all new differentiated Guitar Hero products,” and whatever that means…we just don’t know.
And don’t forget, the company also plans on selling their newly announced “DJ Hero” game. So in the end, five total Hero games will be released in 2009. Wow, this is a way to kill a name!

Box Art for Guitar Hero: Metallica?

Could this be the final box art for Guitar Hero: Metallica? Well, according to Gamestop it is. If you head over to the site, you notice that they have the cover for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. Oddly, they haven’t included the Wii version — but it’s safe to assume that will look the same.

In a weird way, I hope this isn’t the final box for the game — it looks almost fake. Seriously, we have been given fan made box art through email and many of them are considerably better and more marketable than this.

Tracks Revealed for Guitar Hero: Metallica

With the game set to be released on March 27, Activision has finally revealed the full track listing for Guitar Hero: Metallica. Not only do we get such hits as, “Enter Sandman“, “Master of Puppets” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” but we get other legendary bands like “Alice in Chains and “Queen.”

After the jump, check out the full list. (more…)

Footage: Guitar Hero: Metallica

Here is some footage of Guitar Hero: Metallica from CES. We would like to pick this apart and find some reasonable explanation why we are posting it besides it being the first time we see actual gameplay. But we can’t, and we are sorry for that. The game…well, looks like Guitar Hero, but with Metallica…and the song Fuel. So, if you are obsessed with the metal band, buy it — if not; skip it.

Trailer: Guitar Hero: Metallica

It was finally confirmed that a Guitar Hero: Metallica game was heading over to a console near you. After months of rumors and a teaser that some speculated of it being a fake, the band announced it a few days ago.

Now, the official trailer has finally been introduced. According to the clip, the game promises to have the legendary band’s most “fiercest songs,’ and also include 20 other groups. After that, not much is known, but Activision and Neversoft seems to have decided to make the member’s look a little more realistic than the previous games that have been released in the past.

FACT: Lars still looks like an annoying little (literally) prick in the game.

Confirmed: Guitar Hero: Metallica

Last week a trailer emerged online trying to convince that it’s the official teaser for Guitar Hero: Metallica. Many people online thought it was a fake because it looked like…well, kinda cheap looking.

Apparently it was real, because if you purchased Guitar Hero: World Tour, you can find the hidden video according to Gamespot. The trailer which can be seen on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of the game, features the song ‘Master of Puppets,’ and ends with the slogan “Ride the Lighting, 2009.”

This will be the second Guitar Hero game released with a bands name in the title. The first band to do it was the Legendary band Aerosmith which came out earlier in the year.

As of now, Activision has yet to comment on anything about the game. But since it was featured in the new Guitar Hero — we figure it’ll take advantage of all the instruments included in Guitar Hero: World Tour. Check out the video above.
