Sea of Dreams Back in the BioShock 2 Name (For Now)

Last week, 2K mentioned to a few sites that they were dropping the subtitle title “Sea of Dreams” for BioShock 2. Either someone screwed up, or the company suddenly had a change of heart. Because now, according to Eurogamer, “Sea of Dreams” will still be included in the title, which we prefer anyways. But at this point, we want 2K to either make up their damn minds or learn how to give out a memo the right way, because they are really starting to screw up my tags below.

Scans For Game Informer’s BioShock 2 Story Now Online

If you have been itching to get your hands on the new issue of Game Informer because of the exclusive BioShock 2 cover-story, a website might be able to help you. If you click the link, you can read scans from the magazine, but be forewarned, the quality is a bit graining.  Basically, check it out if you want to get an idea of how the game is going to look, but we recommend to pick up the mag, you’ll see high-rez shots.

Up top is one screen that was included with the scan. As you can tell, the art-style remains intact for the sequel. Graphically, its hard to tell if its better, but the level of detail for the Big Daddy’s drill is astonishing. I’m excited to see how that’s going to look in motion — I get the feeling the separate pieces are going to move in different directions, which should look beautiful.

First Details for BioShock 2

Thanks to some internet forum users who received the newest issue of Game Informer a little early, we finally have some information regarding BioShock 2. First, the biggest news to come out is the confirmation of having the player take control of a ‘Big Daddy.’ According to the magazine, the star of the game will be a so-called ‘renegade’ Big Daddy, in search of his own ‘Little Sister.’ During the course of the game, the player will be responsible for destroying other Daddies by using the infamous hand-drill and upgradable plasma powers. In order to preform upgrades to the Big Daddy’s energy, the player most choose to either harvest Little Sisters for an ADAM, just like the first game — or adapt her.

As for the story, the game will be set ten years after the incidents from the first BioShock. The newest enemy in the game the ‘Big Sister,’ who was confirmed she would be included a few days ago, apparently used to be a Little Sister. Some things were revealed about her. We do know her mission is to set out and hunt the renegade Big Daddy. She will appear after the player kills a Big Daddy, and will be notified when a Little Sister sings after his death. Like we thought, the Big Sister will be fast and agile, unlike the Big Daddies who roamed the first game, who were slow and awkward. Not only that, she has the abilty to use telekinesis and is able to throw objects at the player. Game Informer describes her as “the hardest thing in the game,” and it sounds like it.

The game will not only be told inside the glass walls of Rapture, but outside them as well. During the course of the game, certain fight scenes will happen on the ocean floor. As of now, we don’t have any details on how 2K Marin plans on doing this.

It should also be noted, that 2K has confirmed multiplayer feature(s). How the will entail is still a mystery, but hopefully we will find out soon. BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams should be available in late-2009 and will be sold for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Game Informer Reveals BioShock 2 and “Big Sister”

Game Informer has revealed its next cover for the upcoming month. As you can tell, the magazine is set to have a huge blowout for BioShock 2 and the cover is already news to fans of the game.

During the weekend, it was heavily rumored that the next installment of the FPS would feature a “female” version of “Big Daddy,” named “Big Sister.” Apparently, the internet rumors this time are correct and she seems a tap-bit more agile than her male predecessor — judging by her pose. At the same time, we get the feeling she’ll be quite a bit faster as well. We are also cringing to what the hell she plans on doing with her giant syringe — it makes us a little uncomfortable to look at.

Take-Two also announced during a conference call for investors that 2K plans on releasing BioShock 2 sometime in ‘2009.’ It should also be noted that the publisher refused to talk which system it would appear on, meaning some are speculating that it won’t be multi-platform. We think if anything, it will be a time-excusive and nothing more.

Could BioShock 2 Take Place on Dry Land?

A better quality teaser trailer has made its way online for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. After viewing it again, we might have uncovered somethings we missed after we first watched it.

First, while watching the HD version of the teaser — we noticed the Big Daddy doll the older ‘Little Sister‘ is holding is actually something that looks like she made. The head of doll is a baseball, sticking into the ball are thumbtacks which represent the eyes and the tips are pained red. The infamous arm of the Big Daddy doll is a thimble and attached to that is a phone cord. There is no question that 2K Marin did a wonderful job of creating remarkable detail in the pre-rendered video.

After the jump, read about things we might have discovered.

Teaser for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams

Hey PS3 owners, your version of Bioshock might be inferior to the Xbox 360 game, but at least you get the teaser for the sequel entitled, BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. We have the exclusive video for the PS3 up top, but unfortunately the teaser is filmed off-screen so, it’s not the best quality. Even though it’s not HD — you still get what 2K is trying to get across.

Obviously the girl who is holding a ‘Big Daddy‘ doll is a ‘Little Sister‘. While she’s standing on a beach looking out at the water, stones behind her rise from the ground. Are the stones a metaphor for the city Rapture to rise again? We think so!

Since the trailer is on PS3, we think it’s a pretty safe bet that the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC will be getting the game on the same day when it launches in 2009.
