I was one of the lucky people who had the pleasure to check out the behind closed doors demo of BioShock Infinite at E3. Like my colleagues, I was blown away by the 14-mintute walkthrough and easily thought it was the best game of the convention.
I’ve tried explaining how it awed the not only myself, but everyone else who watched it. But this is something you just need to watch and experience with your own eyes. And to be honest, I’ve been impatiently waiting for Irrational Games to release the same demo to the public.
After the jump, watch a tease of that very walkthrough I saw and info on how you can watch the rest. (more…)
Right before Jimmy Fallon went on the air for Late Night a few year’s ago, he promised his show would not only focus on the music and film industry, but the show would dab into the videogame world too — and he has.
Coming off the heals of E3, Jimmy Fallon is making this week, Video Game Week on his show.
Simon Pegg, the actor and co-writer of Shawn of the Dead will be playing a few rounds of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Activision‘s Robert Bowling, tonight. Pegg tweeted the news earlier today. (more…)
You know the PS Vita is an insanely powerful handheld when Sony runs a gorgeous version of Uncharted that is on par with the original game. At Sony’s yearly press conference, the company showed Nathan Drake‘s — who will be voiced by the same actor Nolan North — next adventure for the first time in public, which is titled Uncharted: Golden Abyss. The story, which is written by John Garvin (writer for the 2011 film Sanctum) is said to be told before the first installment, but not much is known beyond that.
During the public demo on stage, we got a glimpse of how the team, Sony Bend Studios, took advantage of all the Vita’s features. In one scene, we see Nathan climbing up a cliff, and in order to jump from one platform to another, the player must tap where he wants Nathan to move. Other things, like Nathan climbing up a latter, requires to rub their fingers behind the system up and down, which is using the touch sensors in the back, to move Drake up.
Up top, watch as the game is running on an actual PS Vita handheld.
The Legend of Zelda turns 25 this year, and Nintendo is going to celebrate it in a big way. During their yearly press conference at E3, the company promised a few extra Zelda goodies, along with the already announced Ocarina of Time remake for the 3DS and the new Skyward Sword0 for the Wii.
A little later today, the Game Boy Color version of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will purchasable on the eShop, Then in short time, The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords will obtainable on the eShop for free.
So in total, Nintendo plans on releasing four versions of Zelda, never before playable on any of the systems. It’s not a bad way to get fans hungry for the new titles, and maybe earn some more along the way.
Rayman is one of those games that seem to somehow always have a new game coming out, but I never actually met anyone who’s played any of them, since the first one, including me. But this new one, has peaked my interest.
This time around, Rayman will be returning to his roots in 2D form and appropriately called Rayman Origins. The game, which will be a download only– using Xbox Live, Wiiware and PSN — looks to have visuals that resemble Braid, though the gameplay is completely different and plays like a traditional 2D platformer.
So congrats Ubisoft, I might attempt to try this one, and maybe even meet another human who does as well.
Uncharted 2 is my personal favorite game for the PlayStation 3, maybe even my favorite game of this generation, so hearing about a third installment only makes my gut tickle.
Up top is a 6 minute walkthough of the E3 demo and it’s amazing to already see Naughty Dog top the second game visually. The area that is most impressive to me, besides the smooth transitions of gameplay to cut-scenes, has to be the animations of Drake and how the physics engine works and interacts with the world around him.
For instance, as you watch the video and you’ll view water filling up the boat because of an explosion. Not only is the water rushing in and knocking over everything in its path, the whole entire boat is tilting into the direction of the hole because of all the weight of the water. Little things like that create an immerse environment, which most developers would skip.
In other games, we would probably see water rushing in, knocking over stuff, but the ground be perfectly balanced. This is why Sony has been experiencing great success within the Uncharted series. The development team is not only one of the pioneers on how to make a graphically fantastic looking game, but also they’re one of the best storytellers around because they have the ability to express and move the story forward, without the need of any words.
I can’t believe it has already been 10 years since Luigi’s Mansion was launched on the first day with the Gamecube. While many people talk about not having fond memories of the haunted house title, I for one did.
I always thought the negative remarks about the game were from people’s disappointment that Nintendo gave us that on the Cube’s launch day, instead of an actual Mario game. And they let those feelings get in the way of a game they should’ve enjoyed.
Well I’m happy to learn the company is releasing a full fledged sequel to Luigi’s Mansion for the 3DS. Not only will be in 3D but also include 12 mansions to explore with Luigi’s trusty vacuum.
Visually, it looks close to the Gamecube’s version, but not quite on par, just yet. But that all could change considering the development of the game isn’t finished.
The trailer for Super Mario 3D is finally out, which we so nicely put up top for you. When the 3DS was announced, Nintendo confirmed that a Mario game was indeed in the works, and even went as far to show what the logo would look like. The far left side of the logo, was a tail and the company teased fans on what that tail was.
When watching the trailer, you’ll notice Mario once again jumping into a raccoon suit, which he so famously did back in Super Mario Bros. 3, for the NES. So obviously, that was why we have it attached to the logo.
In terms of gameplay, the title reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy game, which makes sense considering the developers made both Wii titles too. But there are also similar elements that I notice from Super Mario Bros. 3, so it looks to include the best of both worlds.
Considering those are my two favorite Mario games, I’m sold.
The biggest announcement at this year’s E3 is clearly Nintendo‘s new system, and the company has just revealed what that is moments ago. The device will be called the Nintendo WiiU and will launch “next year.”
Nintendo thought Wii was the perfect name of their last generation console because ‘we all would enjoy it,’ but wanted to make sure ‘YOU’ will also enjoy this future one on a personal level. So the name WiiU stems from We and YOU. Get it? (more…)
Sony has announced that the PSP versions of God of War will be remastered for the PlayStation 3 and include both Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus. Called God of War: Origins Collection, the edition will obviously feature the same blood-bath action as the portable versions, but also take advantage of the PS3 hardware. (more…)
EA announced that they will be publishing Insomniac’s next game, titled OverStrike. In the past, we’ve been used to Insomniac games being exclusive to the PlayStation 3, but now even Xbox 360 owners can enjoy the videogames created by the talented studio.
It’s hard to grasp what kind of genre OverStrike will fall into, mainly because the video is nothing but CG. But if I were to guess, it will be a third-person action title, with fighting and shooting elements. It’s also evident that humor will play a huge role into the narrative of the story, and that the developers do not want the audience to take the characters so seriously. That could be a breath of fresh air for once, considering most have forgotten that comedy can also tell a fun story.
Today was a big day for EA‘s Battlefield 3. This marked the first time the game was going to compete for first-person shooter supremacy against its automatic rival, Modern Warfare 3. And don’t you think for a minute big-wigs over at EA aren’t looking to see what the reception is and how people are fairing it, when compared to Activision’s baby.
We have a couple of videos, one trailer up top and another one, along with a walkthrough after the jump. But if you are wondering what I think, let me say this: I’m impressed, but it’s also hard to grasp which first-person shooter will play better. (more…)
This was a bit of a surprise by Sony today during their presser. The company took the stage and announced a TV, something you would’ve expected during CES not E3. But there obviously is a twist; the TV was developed with the PlayStation in mind — in fact the name of the unit is the PlayStation TV — and even has a fancy PlayStation logo where the name Sony would normally be placed. (more…)
Today was the first time the public had the opportunity to see Resistance 3 played. The video gives us a glimpse on what to expect when the game launches on September 6, 2011 for the PlayStation 3.
It might not have the recognizable name like Halo, but the series is a benchmark for Sony, and even might be the most important since the PS3 launched back in 2006. So this next one will be a title that Sony will put their marketing power behind, and one of the main titles Sony push as a primary 3D title.
We already knew what Sony’s big announcement was going to be at this year’s E3, we just wanted the details, and today we got them. The company has confirmed the PlayStation Vita, previously known as the NGP, and will be released at year’s end. (more…)
