Rumor: Epic Mickey 2 Being Developed for Wii U
While a sequel to Junction Point’s 2010 game Epic Mickey has yet to be officially announced, there has been some hard hitting evidence that one is on its way.
Today, Internet guru Superannuation tweeted that he has some inside information that suggests not only new installment is coming, but also will be supported by the Wii U.
The Wii U should be launched by year’s end, so it would be hard to imagine an Epic Mickey 2 would only take advantage of just the tablet, instead of the system’s hardware.
The original Wii had obvious technical limitations, and many games were hindered by that, and in my opinion Epic Mickey was one of those titles. The idea was brilliant, the story was witty, but the execution was sub-par.
We were all captivated when we first saw the concept art of a Disney universe destroyed. And the idea that this was a game and not some movie was indeed exciting. But we also had to remind ourselves that this post-apocalyptic scene would have to be processed using the Wii’s power, and that little fact lowered my expectations overtime.
If this sequel is coming out for the Wii U, and it’s shipped before Sony and Microsoft‘s next-generation consoles, and we are not forced to compare it to more powerful hardware, then it has the potential of being that much more promising than its predecessor.
