Namesless Videogame Trailer Appears, Probably Black Lotus

A nameless videogame trailer has appeared online thanks to GT, and during the clip we are promised it will be fully revealed during the Video Game Awards. While you watch the video, you will notice that the story looks like it will be told inside the city of Hong Kong and that the main character was at one point a cop. Various forums users are believing this mysterious title is a sequel to Stranglehold — which was connected to the film Hard Boiled and was directed by John Woo. However, if you look at the main character, he looks nothing like Chow Yun-Fat, who was the star in both Hard Boiled and Stranglehold. I guess one could say it will be told in the Hard Boiled universe, but I seriously doubt that.

Internet guru supererogatory, believes this unknown trailer is for a Treyarch canned game called Black Lotus, which is set in Hong Kong. According to various outlets, Activision had Treyarch stop the development of Black Lotus to solely work on Call of Duty: World at War and had the Vancouver-based studio United Front Games to pickup where Treyarch left off. So could this be that title? Probably.

More to come when the full trailer premieres at the VGA’s on Spike TV on December 13th.
