Pictures of the Aftermath from the Terrorists Level in Modern Warfare 2
If you haven’t heard, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is going to have an option to play as the terrorists in one mission. Some people are just fine with it, while others, including gamers no less, are against the idea of playing as the enemy. During the scene, a elevator opens up at an airport and it’s up to the player to shoot and kill as many innocent bystanders as possible.
A video was leaked a few days ago that showed the action in motion. It was kind of hard to make out because the footage was so grainy, but you could easily tell what was going on. Activision quickly took down the footage, although I’m sure it’s more than accessible to find online at various websites.
The site ps3-scene has some images of what the aftermath looks like when the player is done gunning down the civilians. After I checked them out, I found it actually quite shocking and I even can understand why some people are disgusted by what Infinity Ward decided to included in the game. I picked out a few of the disturbing pictures and you can see the rest of them after the jump.

Wow. That is disturbing. I could understand if it was like a mess hall of enemy soldiers, but this…

Honestly. Not that big of a deal. Everybody guns down people in GTA all the time. It’s fun taking out the cop cars. I’m interested to play the level, after all, it’s just a game.

@Jon
I agree, it really isn’t a big deal; however with that said, I think there is a BIG difference in what Infinity Ward is trying to accomplish with their Modern Warfare series, when compared to Rockstar.

I agree it is disturbing, but it’s supposed to be. This is the point to be disturbed by what the terrorists have done, it also gives you an inside view of being a spy. Above all it gives people a reason to want to stop the terrorism. in the game and real life terrorism is horrible, in the game and real life we all want to put an end to terrorism, only in our armed forces and in this game can we go and kick some ass and put an end to it. anyhow this is a game. its not like GTA or Godfather etc where ya go around killin robbing raping etc for fun, this is a game about being a spec ops agent and real life like simulation to being a spy, and soldier. just think we have people from our country out there in terrorist groups being spies for us that are participating in terrorist actions, if they dont do it they die and we dont have any insider info. same as the game goes without an insider they are free to keep doing this disturbing shtuff without warning, at least with insider we can stop them eventually. bla bla bla bla bla I’m done.

Darwin,
The problem I have is when people play the game, they actually won’t be disturbed. I think they will hate the terrorists less in the game because they ‘enjoyed’ playing as them in the level too much.
I’m not saying it’s going to help terrorist recruit individuals. People who think that are probably insecure about themselves and don’t have faith in humanity that we know the difference from fake and reality, and evil from good.
I’m happy Infinity Ward has every right to put this questionable content in the game. They should be allowed to and they have. However, from a storytelling point of view — I think it was a poor decision.
