Heavy Metal Group Trivium Recorded a Track for God of War III
While speaking with 98Rock in Baltimore, lead singer Matt Heafy of the heavy metal band Trivium, revealed they would be doing an original song for God of War III. “We’re actually making a song for the game God of War III,” he told the Teo and Christoff. “I don’t know if it’s been announced yet, but it is now.”
Although we have no details about the track itself, I’m not sure how I feel about a heavy metal group included with the the much anticipated third-installment. I have nothing against ‘metal,’ I just think it could be a turnoff to some folks who enjoy the series but not necessarily metal. Sure, one could argue God of War represents what the music genre is all about, but I think it somewhat discredits what the series has done to legitimize the videogame industry as a new medium to tell a story. I honestly think God of War is up their with other modern day ‘greek mythology’ stories, such as Clash of the Titans. Putting a metal group like Trivium, is only appealing to a niche as opposed to the masses. Hopefully, whatever song they recorded, is only played during the credits.
Up top is a music video from the band and after the jump, you can listen to the interview.
