Okay, I mostly think collector’s editions are nothing but giant rip-offs. Sure, they might come with some extra stuff but for the most part I think the extra swag is trash. On occasion, I think one comes along that might be worth picking up and it looks like Infinity Ward has one on the way.

Robert Bowling from the studio has created a youtube video of him unboxing what they are calling the “prestige edition” for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The set comes with the standard collector’s edition art book, which shows off some concept art for the game and as expected a metal case. Inside the steel case comes a token that allows gamers to download the original Call of Duty game for PSN/XBLA, which has been rumored for sometime now.

Sounds cool right? Well there’s more. Inside the box are real working night vision goggles, which should make it a lot easier for us to check out our hot neighbor when she’s changing from a hard days work. If you don’t do something perverted like that, these goggles will probably encourage you to do so. When you are done using them, you can place them on the mannequin head — yes it comes inside the box too!

How much is this all going to cost? We’re not sure, but I think it is a pretty safe bet gamers are going to throw down more than $100 when it is released. If for some reason you decided you don’t want the goggles, but find the original COD token attractive — the company is going to release a limited steel case. Inside the case is a token for COD.

On a side note; if you watch the video, you’ll notice that the two special editions do NOT have the Call of Duty name on it. Only the regular one does. What the hell is going on with the name Activision?
