Japanese Trailer for Metal Gear Arcade
At E3, Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima revealed that his production company was working on three separate Metal Gear games. One of these titles will be making its way to the Xbox 360, besides that, the biggest surprise was Metal Gear Arcade. Obviously by the name, this next installment of MGS will be available in the arcades only. Up top is the first Japanese trailer for this new arcade unit.
Graphically speaking, the action title looks very similar to Metal Gear Online, which is for the PlayStation 3. Although, the unit looks like it going to be packed with all shorts of expensive technology.
The machine will include 5.1 surround sound, which should help players find unsuspected enemies hiding by listening to their every move. If you have a home theater set-up, than you already know the advantage you have over your opponent who doesn’t own one is great. Next thing added, which could be the most exciting, are some sort of 3D glasses. As of right now, this something we do not have in the home consoles and because of that, the experience should be heighten greatly and might actually help convince players to try the arcade unit. Something as simple as this could save the arcades from dying forever. All developers need to do is create an experience that you couldn’t get at home. This is why arcades were at one point so popular. Today, we can get the same game and have it look just as good as the arcade but in our own living room.
Although, if you are curious about checking out Metal Gear Arcade in the future, I hope you live in Japan. As of now, the units will only be available in the land of the rising sun, and will not be coming to stateside. However, Kojima did mention there is a slim chance we could be see it in the US — but it seems doubtful.
