Call of Duty: World at War Sells 11 Million COpies
Treyarch’s last installment of Call of Duty was a success and not just because fans of the series enjoyed, which was something that can’t be said about their last COD game. According to Activision, Call of Duty: World at War has sold roughly 11 million units since it launched in November. In the first month alone, World art War sold 1.88 million, the following month it moved approximately 1.86 million. After that, it hasn’t slow to much and it is averaging about 1.2 million copies sold each month.
Not only has the game sold well in retail stores everywhere, but Activision has felt strong sales with the game’s downloadable content. Since the DLC was made first available on March 19th, up to 2 million digital transactions has happened, not a bad number at all.
This great news Treyarch, who have already been rumored on creating the next game in the series after Modern Warfare 2 is released later this year.
It also sets up Infinity Ward to see strong numbers with Modern Warfare 2, which some are projecting to have similar numbers. Because World at War sold so strongly since it was launched, I expect to see Modern Warfare 2 sell considerably better.
