Activision Confirms DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, Guitar Hero Van Halen

Activision has announced its fall lineup of rhythm games, and it is a lot of titles. DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and the rumored Guitar Hero Van Halen are all expected by the publisher to be released later this year.

DJ Hero is promised to expand Activision’s music genre, and will support its own turntable controller (see above). Players will get a diverse mixture of music including electronica, dance, hip-hop and more. Instead of the players trying to become a legend in the Rock scene, they will now try to be the king of the night clubs.

Guitar Hero 5, will be a direct sequel to the companies famous and most successful music franchise. Like in the previous games, gamers will try once again build their rock god status, and play at small clubs to large arenas around the world. The game is promised to include songs from today and yesterday. The next installment is going to include a new feature where players will be able to drop songs, change band members, instruments, and levels of difficulty, but doing this ‘all on the fly.’

Band Hero will also be making its debut this year. The publisher goal is to market the title as a fun rhythm game, which the whole family can enjoy. Basically, don’t be surprised to see bands like the Jonas Brothers and artists from American Idol to be include with the game — yuck! I hate to say it, but I hope it fails.

Activision also announced, even though most knew it was already in development, that Guitar Hero Van Halen is indeed coming out. Obviously, the title will feature many songs from the large collection that band has recorded over the years. Along with that, the company confirmed Queen, Blink-182, The Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age and many more will be included with the game.

I would also like to personally congratulate Activision for breaking the record of releasing games with the word ‘Hero’ in the name, and doing this all in one year. That is an amazing accomplishment.

  1. You know what will happen if they release Band Hero with Jonas Brothers type music? I won’t play it, but I’ll wish them well. Wishing something to fail just because you don’t like it is snobby and the lowest of the low. Grow up.
