Red Steel 2 Axes Multiplayer
Last week, we mentioned how Ubisoft is on its horse and developing Red Steel 2 for the Nintendo Wii. The latest issue of Nintendo Power has details about the Wii-exclusive first-person shooter. And the game is officially going to miss one important feature that gamers would expect for it to include.
The June issue of the magazine revealed that Red Steel 2 will not contain the ever sought-after mode, multiplayer. The company’s reason for the absence is because they don’t want to hinder the single-player experience. The developers believe the game’s potential lies in the solo storyline, and having the studio work on a multiplayer component could jeopardize Red Steel’s strength.
I’m not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I think any FPS needs to include some sort of multiplayer. The genre breaths because of that mode. On the other hand, the original Red Steel, well… Kinda sucked. And making sure that doesn’t happen again, Ubisoft Paris is needs to make the appropriate changes, and maybe this is just that.
