Rumor: Call of Duty 7 Set During the Vietnam War

We know Modern Warfare 2 is about six months away from being released. Despite the fact, it looks Activision is already figuring out with what their going to do with “Call of Duty 7.” The news comes from a “reliable” source who told the website thatvideogameblog that Noah Heller is involved with the project. If this is the case, then Treyarch would be developing the seventh installment of the franchise. For the last couple of years, every time ‘Infinity Ward‘ (Modern Warfare) creates a COD title, the following year the next game would develop by Treyarch. So, it looks like the ritual is still going to continue.

The insider told the site that Activision is trying to license music from record companies, that were record around the time of the Vietnam War. If the publisher is really trying to get a hold of the tunes, it would be safe to suggest that the next Call of Duty would be told during the Vietnam Era. Which, I don’t think is a bad idea considering there hasn’t been enough games which took place during the controversial conflict. And certainly not as many as World War II title.

It’ll be interesting to see if the name Call of Duty is used for the alleged game. I believe it will be, because I’m guessing Activision is reserving the name for Treyarch titles.

If you hope to hear an announcement at E3 — don’t! Because realistically if the game is being developed, it is in the very early stages. On top of that, Activision is going to solely focus on Modern Warfare 2, for the show.

  1. You mean Call of Duty 6? Infinity ward isn’t doing call of duty anymore, they’re doing Modern warfare.

  2. Robert, I’m pretty sure it’s still a Call of Duty game, they just drop the COD in the title.
