Video: Wolfenstein’s Opening Cinematic

id Software has decided to release the opening cinematic sequence for the new Wolfenstein game. The video stars our favorite Nazi-killing solider B.J. Blazkowicz, onboard a ship, while traveling on the high seas. Of course, the ship is filled with the evil regime and Blazkowicz takes care of each and everyone of them.

Sadly, like many games, the cut scenes are only pre-rendered, so don’t expect the game to look or move like the clip above. I really hate it when video games feel the need to do this and tell a story. I understand why they do it, because the in-game engine can’t tell the story that they want it to. However for me at least, once the game loads to show CG, it takes me right out of the game — which is a no-no in storytelling.

Wolfenstein will be in stores this summer for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
