Punch–Out!! for the Wii is one of those titles I get giddy when I think about it. Like so many other Nintendo fanboys, I’ve been waiting patiently for a new installment, ever since the N64 came out. Obviously that never happened, so I was sure we would’ve seen one on the Gamecube. Years later, I realized that was never going to be a reality, either. Then the Wii came out, but at that point I figured the series was never going to resurrect itself. Then last year, we were blessed to hear that the Big N was indeed planning on releasing a new version of their famous boxing game.

Overall I’ve been very pleased with the progress of the game, besides the dim lighting in the background. Graphically the title has updated itself, but the original gameplay mechanics look to be the same — which is important for a game like Punch-Out!!. Not only that, we’ll also be able to play with the motion sensors if we want too or play like the old-school way, with just the buttons on the controller. Although its not confirmed, it looks like the title will have the ability to utilize the Wii Fit Balance Board to dodge opponent’s punches.
