Bungie: A BILLION Halo 3 Matches have Been Played
According to Bungie, Halo 3 had officially played its one billion match on Saturday night. That’s right, the first-person shooter has reached a billion matches played using the Xbox Live service. The team behind the the game said the following;
“At precisely 6:36pm PST, in a three minute and nineteen second game of Infection on Foundry, four players participated in Halo 3’s one billionth match. Saturday night, while many of us were stuffing food into our faces, plenty of folks were still playing Halo 3.”
I don’t know what is more scary, the fact that Bungie can watch and count every Halo game played or that millions of gamers around the world, who have combined to play over a billion matches.
What’s even more interesting about the whole affair is how Halo 3 has already surpassed Halo 2 for how many games have been played online. Right now, Halo 2 sits at 798 million matches. Even though the game came out a few years before the third installment, it is still quite a few matches behind and probably will never catch up.
