DSi Comes to the States on April 5 and an Extra Color to Choose (Blue)

Nintendo has finally announced the North American and European dates for the release of the DSi. According to a press release, the handheld will debut on April 5, 2009 for $169.99 here in the states. The Europeans will be able to get their hands on the device two days earlier on April 3, 2009, however, no price has been confirmed, although rumors say about ‬£150.

When the system launches in North America, instead of choosing between two colors (white & black), Nintendo will give customers one extra color, light-blue (pictured below). Unfortunately for the people across the Atlantic; they will be stuck with the original two color schemes. No word on why the Big N decided this; but we think the company will make it available sometime down the line.

Besides the one color choice in the North American version, everything else will include the same features as the Japanese system, which comprises of a camera, mic, SD card slot, flash memory and a Wifi Channel to download games.
