Fable II Wins Peta Award (No, Really)
When Peter Molyneux envisioned Fable II, do you think he thought about receiving a prestigious award from PETA? Probably not, but he now has the “distinct honor” of owning a ‘Proggy Award‘ — straight from PETA!
Apparently, PETA gives away these yearly awards to recognize “companies, people and products for innovative and animal-friendly achievements.” The animal rights organization, explains why the role-playing game deserved the award:
“In the virtual fight between good and evil, characters powered by tofu are just as powerful as their meat-eating counterparts—and are more fit and attractive to boot. Featuring a strong pro-vegetarian theme, eating a plant-based diet helps you rack up “purity” points, whereas eating meat makes your character fat and evil. It’s a fun and innovative game, that’s also an effective tool that teaches gamers the real-life benefits of a vegetarian diet.”
Over the last few months or so, PETA has been paying close attention to the video game industry. Just recently the company pressured Sega to remove a Samba De Amigo advertisement because it involved a real-life monkey. They also attacked Cooking Mama and made a parody flash-game where the character was an obsessed animal killer.
At least this time they’re honoring a game as opposed to taking action against it. Click here if you are interested in seeing other winners from PETA.

I thought PETA would give CoD5 a negative award for the attack dogs. Huh…must have escaped their radar.
