Rumor: Steel Battalion Coming to the Wii (W/Out Controller)

update: According to multiple sources, the rumor is not true.

Capcom has announced to the Japanese Media that the original Xbox game Steel Battalion will be making it’s way over to the Wii. However, unlike the first version of the game where it cost $200 because it came with a ‘mech replica’ controller, it’ll take advantage of the Wiimote(s) and the Wii balance board.

When the game debuted in 2003, it was praised for it’s also realistic giant mech battles, but the general population was turned off because of it’s hefty price tag. Because of the price, not many copies were produced; making it a hot collector’s item.

Now, with the Wii’s accessories, Capcom is promising that the ‘remake’ will control just like its predecessor, but the player will just need to own Nintendo licensed products. Thus making the game considerably cheaper at the standard price of $50.

No word yet on the game coming States Side, but just keep those fingers crossed…
