If any of you are wondering why Nintendo seems to release a new version of the DS every couple of years this is why; 1 million. That is how many DSi’s have been sold in Japan since it debuted two months ago. These sale number have been reported by both Famitsu and Enterbrain.

Because of the DSi selling so strong in the ‘Land of the Rising Son,’ the number of DS’s sold have reached almost the 25 million mark in Japan alone — which is an incredible achievement.

What’s even harder to fathom is the total number of sales in the future when the DSi is finally released in North America and Europe late next year. The DS is already over the 85 million mark, by this time next year, it should be over 100 million.
