Confirmed: Metal Gear Coming to the iPhone

Here is a quick update we reported about Metal Gear coming to the iPhone. Konami has confirmed that the publication scans from Japan are in fact real. The gaming publisher expects the MGS to come out worldwide next year in the spring. It’ll obviously be made available only through Apple’s App-Store.
The game will only use the touch feature on the phone and not use the accelerometer. For instance, if you have a sniper rifle; simply use your fingers and zoom in like you would use the web browser on the phone. The player will control Snake through 8 different stages with the ability to download more later in the year.
Like we said in the post before, this announcement is the first time analyst will actually think the iPhone as a contender in the gaming industry. And if Metal Gear does well, you better expect to see a lot more well-known franchises making its way to the iPhone.
Up top are two screenshots from the game. It’ll be interesting if this game will show off the power the device is capable of. Remember, some developers like John Carmack said its about as powerful as a PlayStation 2. This should be the title to see if that statement is indeed correct.
On a side note; the game will also be made available to iPod Touch owners.
