Confirmed: 505 Games Working on the Phelps Swimming Title

The best story this past summer Olympics was Michele Phelps. No matter what country you’re from, you have to admire any athlete who wins eight gold medals in two weeks. In the United States, you couldn’t go anywhere or watch anything without seeing the swimmer.

One thing that some gamers might not know is he’s actually a pretty big gamer. He’s been known to indulge in Call of Duty 4 and Guitar Hero between practicing for events. Earlier in the month, we reported that Phelps announced while speaking with ‘60 Minutes‘ he is in fact going to have his very own video game. But he didn’t reveal what company was developing the game.

Today we do, 505 Games is assuming responsibly to the swimming game. The title will be available for the “next generation” consoles, as well as the iPhone. The team behind the game promise the swimming game to be a “first-of-its-kind video game,” which we hope it means it won’t be the “press the button as fast as you can” game.
