Video and Impressions for Ghostbusters on the Wii
There is no question that the Wii version of Ghostbusters has been overshadowed by the PS3 and Xbox 360. We think it is due to the fact the graphics have more of a cartoony feel than the realistic look the more powerful machines display. However, thanks to gamereactor we have watched a 10 minute video featuring gameplay from Ghostbusters for the Wii — and we want to be honest; it looks good.
The folks over at Terminal Reality/Red Fly were smart when they decided to develop on the Wii. Instead of trying to downgrade a port of the game, they completely used a different engine. From the style of it, you can see that right away. Let’s face it, the Wii can’t compete with the Xbox and PS3 in terms of graphics, it must rely solely on the Wiimote. And this game does it. Not only that, zapping ghosts while aiming with the Wiimote actually seems more entertaining than using a standard controller.
Also, making the game use the cartoon-type graphics was another brilliant idea by Red Fly Studios (Mushroom Men). By having it look like the cartoon show from the 80’s , they can get away with it. Things don’t have to be nearly as detailed as if they went with a realistic vibe. Along with the destructible environments — graphically this game passes. Which can be a difficult goal to achieve on the Wii — especially when the ’same’ game is being released on other platforms.
And honestly, when the game is all said and done; we might say it even has more personality than the Wii’s bigger brothers.
