PS360 Controller (Mod)
Ben Heck is one hell of a modder. This time around, he took both the Xbox 360 controller and the Dual Shock 3 and combined them to make a super controller. I personally like both controllers and the way I choose which controller I find best depends on what game I’m playing.
For instance, for a first person shooter, I find where the analogs are better placed on the Xbox 360 controller. However for a fighting game, the D-pad and feel of the 360 controller is just awful. That is when I choose the Dual Shock.
But, Ben Heck modded a 360 controller and kept the good things about it and replaced the negatives like the d-pad and used the PS3’s instead.
He didn’t specify which system it works for or if it can run both systems. However, we would love this for the Xbox 360. Let’s face it, overall the PS3 Dual Shock is better and manly because of the d-pad. The controller will work well for any game that comes out for the system.

that looks crappy, it doesnt even look that good, i mean he did a good job creating it but it would be something i wouldnt want or buy.

Nice fabrication, but i find the ps3 controller the most perfect one out there for me, and i’m sure millions of others would agree, which is why sony has used the same design since what, 1996?

Yes, about 96. It was ok then, but it’s crap now, except for the D-pad. A PS D-pad on the Xbox360 controller is a match made in heaven. Hopefully MS can take a hint and come up with a better D-pad for their next controller, and hopefully Sony will think of a new solution for their next attempt.

I hate the ps3 controller while playing football games due to my left thumb slides off the left stick.

lol maybe you should clean your hands because theres no way my thumb slips and i play flat out, sweet mod by the way id get one for my 360, the d-pad on its awfull

i hate the ps3 controller - too light and uncomfortable! prefer the 360 controller, but thats still not perfect.

Xbox 360 controller is blocky, awkward, unresponsive and uncomfortable. Sony have used the same controller design for so long because they actually know HOW to make controllers, why mess with perfection?
Maybe Microsoft will get it right NEXT time round…….(Hopefully next time round we won’t have a 33% failure rate either)

good job but i wouldnt want it cause it sucks for shooters if u had changed the R1 and L1 then itd be cool but sweet stuff dude

David Macphail…you sir sound like a Sony flunkie or fanboy. The 360 controller has been called the best controller this gen with only the D-Pad keeping it from making a clean sweep. I love this design, and would gladly buy it to play Street Fighter 4.

Good mod - but yeah, would have been better using a black case.
As for people saying the ps3 controller is great, you must have little girl hands. The analogue sticks make your thumbs point in an unnatural position (thumbs toward each other in a grip position - which puts them at the edge of your natural range of motion - go on try it, you’ll see what I mean), so you dont have the same control. The sticks dont have enough tension and wobble around too easily. The controller is too small and light - its designed for a childs hand (avg gamer is 27 year old male, go figure). If you play the thing for too long, your hands will hurt - its not perfection, they got it wrong in 96 and its still wrong today.
But if your a girl with bendy thumbs then your set.

Should have used a Sega Saturn d-pad and left everything else alone, then you’ve got the best possible set up, Saturn pads are best pads ever for fighting games and the 360 is best for everything else, i’d pay plenty for a Saturn60 controller.

That controller mod would be perfect for the PS3 in most cases, but instead of choosing between one or the other, I’ll have Both Controllers for $xx.xx, Alex.
Both controllers have their unique feel as well as a comfortable shape, depending on the game. Like some said, the 360 mod would be good for shooters and some racing games, while the ps3’s d-pad left style would be good for gaming and other platform games that would require it, so why not just have both?
