GTA IV: DLC Explained and Dated for Feb. 17

It’s about freaking time, Rockstar Games has finally announced when and what the downloadable content featured in Grand Theft Auto IV when/will be. First, the DLC as expected will be exclusively for the Xbox 360 — thanks in part to Microsoft paying the publisher a bizillion dollars before the game was released.

The content; which is going to be available on Xbox Live February 17, will be entitled “Lost and Damned,” and feature a new star named Johnny Klebitz. Not much is known about Klebitz, besides his involvement in the biker gang “The Lost,” hence the name of the episode.

Co-founder of Rockstar Games Dan Houser, discussed with USA Today about the newly announced DLC:

“Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background.  I can’t go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City.”

During the original story of Grand Theft Auto IV, Niko did run into ‘The Lost,’ on several occasions. However, that doesn’t mean Niko will play a big part at all during the new story-line, Houser explained to the national newspaper. Although, he does promise a newer/deeper experience out of the DLC, “We feel like we’ve only scratched the surface in terms of the depth and detail…”

Even though we’re sure many of you are disappointed by not having an entirely new island to explore, we should be at least be happy that we’re finally going to get the DLC — and it’s only a few months away. I also wouldn’t rule out the possibility of having new vehicles included with the download. For some reason I have a hunch we could see a tad more than just a story.
