NXE Can’t Stream Sony ‘Distributed’ Movies Through Netflix

We’re only a few hours until Microsoft’s ‘New Xbox Experience‘ debuts to the public. However, it looks like Sony is trying their best to be the party-pooper. During the preview that so many had the chance to participate in — one of the coolest features most people enjoy, is being able to steam movies through Netflix. For the most part, Netflix ran smooth and only had a ‘few’ minor hiccups.

During the first week of the preview, anything that could be viewed with the ‘watch instantly’ feature on the PC, could be viewed on the Xbox 360. Thanks to Sony, that isn’t the case anymore. Movies distributed by Columbia Pictures are coincidently not working with the NXE update.

Now, if you’re not familiar with the movie industry — Columbia Pictures is owned by Sony. You know, the same Sony who created the PlayStation 3 — the same PlayStation 3 that is loosing to the Xbox 360 in the console wars. We’re not saying Sony is doing this on purpose and try to take away any kind of positive buzz surrounding the NXE. However, if they’re not — don’t you think it’s a little odd to delete movies that were available on the 360 less then 24 hours ago?

  1. Well maybe it’s time for Sony to take a stand. MS buying it’s way in all the DLC content isn’t really fair either is it?

  2. Playstation 3 isn’t losing. They have sold the same amount of consoles as xbox360 had done by this time. Have in mind that xbox360 has 1 year advantage.

  3. Can’t watch a Sony movie on a Microsoft Xbox 360.
Can watch a Sony movie on a computer with Microsoft operating system.

Anyone else see the hypocrisy here?
