Microsoft’s Own Version of LittleBigPlanet for the Xbox 360

Microsoft isn’t dumb, they understand that LittleBigPlanet is a unique concept that could possibly be the first major system seller to come out for the console. Obviously the hardcore gamer loves the idea of creating a world from scratch, but the game also broads out to the casual gamer. Not many games can transcend both parties to enjoy the same game, but Media Molecule has done it and Microsoft gets it.

Because of the success, Microsoft looks like they have created their own version of a level editor — but this one has the potential to be deeper. Unlike LitteBigPlanet, this new ‘game’ dubbed Boku, looks to not only have a level creator but you can also create your own set of rules. The game also seems to feature a fully 3D world, instead of the 2D ‘left-to-right’ side-scroller like LittleBigPlanet. However at this point — the game isn’t nearly as detailed in the graphical department and if one day it catches up, it won’t be for along time.

There is no question for my love for LittleBigPlanet but like every other thing in life, there is always a negative and LBP certainly has them. Not being able to create a 3D world is certainly something I wouldn’t mind seeing in their endless sequels the series will eventually have. But at the same time, the game isn’t solely based creating a unbelievable world, the game also features some of the best personality in any genre. Judging by the new video Microsoft revealed — its pretty evident that is missing. Of course, it is early and that could change.

  1. what a total crap fest. please continue to lead the way in the unimaginative, copy-pasting realm of video game development.

  2. Yes, This does look pretty lame.

  3. Ha NOT EVEN CLOSE… KEEP ON WISHING MICROSOFT!

  4. From what the developers have said this isn’t a competitor to any kind of game out there. This was a game designed to help teach children to program in a simple and graphical way. It came out of the MSFT research department for that purpose.

  5. The first three comments here are by the typical anti-everything else fan boys that speak before they think. The PS3 fan boys seem to sound exactly like the Mac fan boys, which is laughable. Minorities are so loud and defensive about absolutely nothing… very sad waste of intelligence and energy.

As Dave said above me, this is for educating children on basic programming concepts by allowing them to string logic together to build a larger complex system.

Get a clue people… don’t take every article you read word for word. That’s how we end up with bad presidents. Search on related subjects… you know… like Boku, for instance?! You might actually learn something new by pooling multiple resources before opening your mouth.

    k, done venting. :)

  6. The graphics may not be state of the art, but they give off a retro feel to the game (if it can be called that).
