Rumor: Nintendo Using the Same Technology as the Wiimote for the ‘Wii 2′

While this is 100% true right now, it’s still very credible nonetheless. Sources tell digitimes that the company Pixart Imaging who provide the Wiimote with it’s infrared chips, are currently working on Nintendo’s next machine due out in the next 3-5 years. What this ultimately means for the next system is Nintendo plans on using the same technology for their next controller. Meaning, in the future — we’re going to continue to point an ‘accessory’ at the TV screen.

However, it doesn’t mean it’ll be just like the Wiimote, in fact we think it’ll be completely different than what we use now. But whatever it is, it’s a controller and NOT some kind of mind reader like the emotiv — which some thought we could see with Nintendo’s next console.

  1. I’m not sure why anyone pays attention to Nintendo rumours these days. They’ve been proven time and time again to be so wrong that even if one DOES come along that might be right, it’s not worth wasting the effort of being interested.
