Kid Runs Away Because of his Obsession with Call of Duty

A 15-year-old boy ran away from his home because his obsession with Call of Duty. On October 13, Brandon Crisp decided to leave his house in Barrie, Ontario after he got into a argument with parents because they cut-off his privileges playing the first person shooter. “He left because we took his Xbox away,” said his father Steve Crisp. “This was his addiction,” he added.

Over the past few weeks, both his parents noticed that Brandon was becoming so addicted to the game he started to loose sleep. There even times where Steve would wake up in the middle of night and find his son playing the game online.

For the past week, Police have been searching relentlessly — calling in helicopters and canines to find any clues regarding his disappearance. “Most (runaways) return home within 24 hours after they’ve cooled off,” said Barrie police Sgt. Dave Goodbrand, “He could have hopped on a bus, he could have hitchhiked out there.”

The police have also checked Xbox Live to determine if Brandon has logged on to play his favorite Xbox 360 game. But unfortunately, up to this point — he has not.

His farther believes he met someone while playing Call of Duty, which scares him the most, “My personal feeling is that he’s met someone online through this game,” said Mr. Crisp, “As a parent, you fear the worst when you don’t hear anything for seven days.”

  1. Holy crap. What a shame. Glad I’m not that bad with my game addiction..

  2. This is just another case of parents over-reacting to something they don’t understand. I still stay up late playing video games, does that make me a hopeless addict?

Regardless, this will just be another one of those stories used by the crazy anti-video-game croud.

  3. So they found his body, he died of hypothermia.
