Media Molecule Response to the LittleBigPlanet Delay

Media Molecule posted a statement regarding their goof for letting passages in the Qur’an in their HIGHLY anticipated game, LittleBigPlanet. While Sony ultimately decided to delay the game, Media Molecule wanted just to release the game and have a patch available on the first day. They  wrote about it on their site:

“So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disc image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing discs.”

We understand Media Molecule just wanted to finally launch the game after years of developing, Sony really had no choice but to delay the project. Since the game was announced at GDC 07′ in San Francisco, the game received nothing but praise. And if they made a decision to sell the game the way it was, they would have to deal with a whole religion giving them negative press — something Sony wants to stay away from. So as mad as we are, Sony made the right choice.

The game was supposed to be sold in stores this Tuesday but has been pushed back one week (10/27).

  1. “So as mad as we are, Sony made the right choice.”

I strongly disagree, Sony’s excuse was lame, who would buy this game to play it offline, its a community driven game
