Rumor: The Next Xbox will Play Xbox 360 Games Like a ‘Next-Next-Gen’
The website Xbox Evolved is reporting that their sources are telling them some new interesting features for the ‘Next Xbox‘ could include. The obvious things they mentioned would let the player take their information and transfer it over to the console planned sometime in 2010-2012. Things like your Gamertag, Gamerscore will have the ability to be moved to the next console.
The one thing that stuck out, was a feature that is kind of like ‘backward-compatibility,’ but with an added twist. Instead of just putting in a Xbox 360 disc and have the ability to play it with maybe a ’sharper resolution,’ it’ll actually look and play better. After the jump, check out what the site said in detail.
“This isn’t a side effect of textures being cleaner and upscaled resolution, this is a new animal completely. Imagine playing Gears of War 3 on your Xbox 360 it looks and plays good right? Well imagine that the year after it comes out you go out to buy the next Xbox and it looks even better, it plays even better. Features in the new controller are utilized with the game, the graphics do not only look sharper, but the draw distance is better, the speed is better, framerate, and there are even new features, perhaps even levels via DLC for the game on the third-generation Xbox.”
If the feature is true, the tentative name is called ‘Forward-Compatibility‘ (get it?). However the question is, is it real? Although we don’t know whom or where the website’s sources work for, we don’t think it is out of the question either. If it ends up being true, don’t think every game would take advantage of “Forward-Compatibility” because we think only games closer to the end of the Xbox 360’s lifespan would only be able to use it.

I knew they would transfer over gamerscore but I’m still glad I’ve heard them say it.I recently hit the 100,000 mark and I’ll be damned if I have to lose it to get a new console.
