Cool Stuff: An Awesome Modded Portable Dreamcast

A few months ago we wrote a story about a guy named Hailrazer on the Ben Heck Forums, who modded a child’s toy into a working portable Nintendo 64, calling it the Darth 64. Apparently he wasn’t finished modding older home consoles into working portable systems.

This time, Hailrazer took the same toy, Lazer Doodle and created a handheld Sega Dreamcast system. He called his newest mod — the Dreamtrooper.

Just like his last ‘invention’, he used a Sony’s PSONE 5″ portable LCD screen, but also included an InterAct Quantum Fighterpad Controller, stereo speakers, and the device gets about 2.5 hours of battery life. At one point when he was designing the system, he thought about putting a VMU in the middle of the controller, but later decided against it.

Check out more pictures after the jump and even a video of the unit in action.
