Michael Pachter: “I’m absolutely convinced there is a Wii HD coming”

One of the worlds best gaming analyst /journalist Michael Pachter, is positive that Nintendo isalready working on a Wii that will support high-definition and released sometime in the not-so-decent future. His reasoning for Nintendo to make this decision is because they need to prove the company still cares about the hardcore gamer.

“Nintendo has to overcome [its image that it doesn't cater to hardcore gamers], a Wii HD would really position Nintendo well, which is why I’m absolutely convinced there is a Wii HD coming. Businesswise, they can’t have people saying that their machine is a toy for my mom.”

What is Pachter referring to when he says a “high-definition Wii console is in on the horizon?” Could he mean 2011 like some people speculate or does he think earlier? When you say something is on the horizon it means its visible…generally indicating it is not years away.

Of course this is just a prediction and nothing more. But what he says does make a lot of sense. And when I heard some people say that a ‘Wii‘ would be in HD sometime in 2011, I was surprised it wouldn’t be earlier then that. Isn’t that 3 years away!?
