Confirmed: Brett Ratner Directing the God of War Movie

From the moment I played the first God of War on the PS2, I thought it probably was one of the most cinematic games ever developed. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one hoping to see a film adaption of the epic story. Today, we’ve just got word thanks to firstshowing.net, that the Greek mythology game is officially headed to the silver screen by none other than Brett Ratner (Rush Hour)…

After hearing the dreadful news, yes dreadful — I take back everything I said. I have no ambition to even see the movie, Brett Ratner has single handedly ruined my hopes and dreams…again.

While speaking with UGO, Ratner was asked what upcoming projects he was set to direct, and he confirmed God of War.

Oh god, few movies, I’m waiting for the scripts to come in…a few good things. Playboy, Bevaily Hills Cop…a few good movies — God of War — some really cool movies.

Although this isn’t a huge surprise by any means, a few months ago MGM hinted that Ratner was working on the project, we just haven’t heard it from the ‘hack’s’ own mouth. And now that we have, I’m about to cry in the corner of the room.  My biggest fear besides it’s probably going to be a generic action flick, but that Kratos is going to be a lovable greek god — who gives gifts to woman and children, as opposed to having sex with them because of the PG-13 rating the movie will most likely receive.

And the question remains, now that we have Brett Ratner officially directing the project, who is going to play Kratos? How about Chris Tucker? If he doesn’t think Tuker’s body is large enough to fill the role, he could take the horrible costume that Juggernaut wore in his own movie, X-Men: The Last Stand. I’m sure no one else is using it…
