With One Day in the Books, Capcom Makes Over a Half Million a Dollars With Mega Man 9

I’ve talked to many people about Mega Man 9 and the return to its roots with 8-bit gaming. While most praised Capcom’s decision on making the game feel like it belonged in the 80’s, a select few thought it was all gimmick. They even went as far to say that people would be turned off by the retro look and feel. They thought potential buyers of the game would feel it’s far inferior compared to today’s games.

Those same people who thought the game didn’t have appeal to gamers — were way off. Sales data for the first day has come out and to say it sold well is an understatement. Mega Man 9 has been downloaded 60,000 times. It outsold every single WiiWare game to date besides six titles and should surpass those within a month.

With the game selling for $10, that means the Capcom has already made $600,000 and it’s only available ONE system. How much money will be earned when PSN and XBLA users get the chance to download the ninth installment of the franchise? My guess, butt-loads…
