Boy Shoots Himself Because of ‘Halo’

An 11-year-old boy named Joshua Nimm, has been killed by a gunshot wound to the head. The Johnson Creek sheriff’s department has ruled that it was nothing more than accidental shooting and the victim was mimicking the game ‘Halo.’ And after playing the game, he was recreating scenes from the ‘first person shooter’ and shot himself.

Jefferson County Detective Sgt. Larry Lee said:

“We are ruling that it is an accidental shooting, the child was getting ready for school and decided to skip school. He was playing video games and we found out he had a .22 caliber rifle that belongs to him. He had access to the rifle and a magazine was kept somewhere else by his parents. He was familiar with the rifle and had been shooting it a couple of times a month – he lived out in the country, so that was nothing unusual.”

I’m not going to get into a debate on if the kid should be shooting a gun or not. I feel as long as parents are around, I don’t see it being harmful. I do however don’t understand why his dad would keep the gun in a area where his son would have access to it. His dad would later confess that his son seemed to get confused if a magazine was in the chamber or not. If this was the case, why would the gun be loaded even in the first place. I really hope they don’t start to blame a video game  over this tragic death. If anyone is to blame, it would sadly be the fault of the parents for allowing the gun in a area where the kid could easy get it, and have it loaded.

And one last thing, If the kid was ‘recreating’ Halo, when did anyone point the gun at themselves?

  1. Thats weird, i live in Milwaukee county, which is about 45 min away from Johnson creek. I was watching the news and saw this report and they made no mention of Halo or any type of game. they did say that this kid was cleaning his gun and took the magazine out but one round was still in the chamber and it went off. They also mentioned that this kid an his father were quite familiar with the guns.

  2. after reading your source from Watertown, u wonder if TMJ4 is not covering everything or that Watertown is making shit up cause it IS a small town and they will place the blame on anything they can….including video games

  3. um… did they ask the corpse what inspired him to shoot himself in the head? I call B.S., just another leftist approach to make a federally mandated “overseer” of entertainment cause parents are 2 f’n lazy to teach there children correctly.

  4. To [R3D]:

Leftist? Are you kidding me?The right is the side full of old people scared of anything that could legitimately be called a step forward. If they had their way, tripping over a rock would be the most graphic thing in the media.

Anyways, this could have happened to anyone, no matter their age.But because he was 11, somebody has to be blamed. The parents could have at the very least locked away the bullets.

  5. lol Smith Smith is pretty much a closet leftist, you can’t compare the “moral right” with the republicans, get over it. Just like not all Democrats are leftists. Or do you just group people into groups who are similar?

  6. well. i know its stupid to put the blame on the game and stuff like that but there is one point in the game where a soldier points a magnum to his head but he never pulls the trigger. just a point to ponder.

  7. And when Miranda Keyes attempts to do a murder-suicide to stop the Covenant from activating the Rings.
