‘Rumors and Speculation,’ is What Nintendo Said About a New DS

Nintendo has responded to the rumors about a new Nintendo DS that would feature larger screens as well as both displays would be a touchscreen, calling it “rumors and speculation.” The rumor also mentioned that Nintendo would announce the new version sometime in early 2009, just after the holiday season.

Although we think the chances of seeing a new DS in 2009 isn’t out of the question, we just don’t think Nintendo would announce it so early in the year. It would probably make more sense to do it around a big event such as E3 in July. Even though they’ve called the rumors “BS,” that doesn’t necessary mean it’s not going happening. If the company is planning on releasing a new DS, it only makes since to shut down the rumors as quickly as possible, they still want to maximize sales throughout the holiday season. As much as fanboys want to believe their beloved Nintendo is their to just make them “smile” like a little girl – in the end it’s about them making as much cheese as they can.
