Wii is Canada’s first console to reach 1 million sales

According to a report by Canadian website CTV, the Nintendo Wii is the first current generation console to reach 1 million sales with just under 1,060,000 as of July. The Xbox 360 comes in second with 870,00 and the PS3 falls behind in third with only 520,000 consoles sold, only half that of the Wii.

From CTV:

The NPD Group says sales of gaming hardware, software and accessories was just under $920 million through July, up 54 per cent over the same period last year.

I’m not sure what’s more exciting, the fact that the Wii has sold over a million systems or that they’re a million people in Canada who have electricity to play Wii.

Hmm… I’m assuming that was self-deprecatory? Maybe there’s a crisis I’m not aware of (I work too damn hard…)? I suppose that you are aware of the fact that WE sell electricity to you? Oh well, I’ll go play a little PJ Eden now…

  2. yep our igloos are able to have electricity pump into them for only a couple hours or else it would melt our homes wouldnt it.

thats why we didnt buy that many xboxs all our homes would be gone.

    americans al high on themselves

  3. the sad thing is the americans prob do believe that

  4. As a Canadian I would just like to say, what’s a “Wii” and to what end does it require this “electricity” you speak so fondly of? Will a “Wii” help me hunt seal? That would be fantastic because my igloo is surprisingly baron of blubber this season. I hope you can tell me what it is all aboot, eh? I’m off to William Shatner’s house to cook bacon and knit socks for our very cold feet.

  5. This blog is kinda stupid tbh.
